Screen tearing on certian games Rust/Beamng/Etc..
When i run games in fullscreen I get incredible screen tearing and it makes the game unplayable, ive tried to put the games into V-Sync and lowing/ raising the graphics, ive tried to force V-Sync on Nvidia control panel when i run the games in windowed they run fine, but U cant run theme like that or its very small resolution. If anyone knows a fix tho this please let me know!

I have insane screen tearing on fullscreen steam games.
I used to get fine fps with no screen tearing and randomly i loaded up my game and it was running at around 55-60 fps with insane tearing when i look around. I run a GTX 970M so i dont see high fps tearing being a problem because games run around 50-60FPS so i dont know why this would be a problem for me.

If you have this problem or a solution to the problem post in down below

Thanks!

Try vsync
Revelene 2018 年 3 月 2 日 下午 12:14
If frames are not sync'd, you will get screen tearing, no matter the frame rate output.

To get rid of screen tearing, you need some form of vsync.

Running games in windowed borderless typically uses the native Windows desktop settings, which forces traditional vsync.

When running fullscreen, be sure to check in-game settings, as well as any settings in your control panel that would override the game settings.

Your hurdle will be frame rate, though. If you have a 60hz monitor, with frame rate under 60, and you use vsync, you'll get stutter from not having enough frames for the buffer. Either that, or it'll drop to 30 FPS. Depends on the buffer type.

In other words. Set V-sync in games to on but you'll have worse performance, or go extremely and buy monitor

I'm having the same issue, except I have no idea how to enable Vsync, since the games I play don't have visible in-game options for it. If somebody could tell me how to force Vsync on games without in-game Vsync settings, that'd be great.

In Nvidia control panel there is a option somewhere to turn on V-sync permanently

Control panel. The exact path of how to do it depends on your GPU, but it all starts in the control panel and is basically the same.

3D settings. Vertical syncronization.

Do note that you have to be able to maintain frames at or higher than the refresh rate of your monitor for it to be effective. For example, if you have a 60hz monitor, you need to be able to maintain 60 FPS. If not, you will get stutter from the buffer process or frames will go to half refresh rate, which in this case would be 30 FPS. Depends on the buffer.

There are also other forms of vsync that you can try. For Nvidia, a very popular one is called Fast Sync. I would recommend trying this option, especially if your frames are above your refresh rate.

If you are getting screen tearing, then vsync isn't working. Make sure vsync is enabled.

Many people forget that they have settings in the control panel, and end up having something in the global settings overriding game settings. This may be the issue.

Not what you want to hear, but the fixes are:

  • Vsync (enabling triple buffering may help further).
  • Borderless windowed mode (go into options and increase resolution if it's too low).
  • A monitor with Gsync (for Nvidia GPUs) or FreeSync (for AMD GPUs).

i tried all of thoes things nothing worked sadly

nothing works? you're saying in OP it works in Windowed mode but the resolution is too low.

Why don't you increase the resolution? You can't just say it doesn't work and expect more solutions. And if the border is in the way, you can still use borderless window.

what kind of monitor do you have? because i have the suspicion you're playing on a TV.

im trying to fix it so I can use it in fullscreen im asking for solution for fullscreen and im trying to fix it with rust and you cant increase windowed to 1080/1920 and rust doesnt allow window borderless

First you have to understand what screen tearing actually is..

Then you look what could cause it.
Framerate of the games in question > refresh rate of your monitor.
Frames are drawn horizontally on older screens.

If the framerate is drawn at a certain speed along with your monitors refresh rate , the difference between them shows how bad the screen tearing actually is. So, try other things like manually downgrading/upgrading refresh rate on your monitor to lower the amount of tearing in game. or limit your fps or actually increase it.

not sure what else there is to do.. if you already tried everything, then there isn't much else to try.

Weird thing to say that vsync isn't the problem.. Vsync is the solution. Turn it on and limit your refreshrate or increase it. the severity of the tearing should increase/decrease based on the amount of frames and your refreshrate.

also, try to read this post again..

I am having the same problem with GTX860m. I think this only happens to some GPU. This only happens to me when I play rust in fullscreen. Weird thing is, if I touch my screen which is touch screen, it fixes it but when I take my finger of it goes back to screen tearing. I know for a fact it's a bug and Vsync has nothing to do with it, since I've tried limiting and enablig through the control panel.
