You cant disable it.
Try this userscript (requires Greasemonkey or Tampermonkey):
https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/1519-automatically-bypass-steam-age-verification
It will set the year to 1950 for your privacy and auto-submit the form.
Enhanced Steam randomizes the year that is submitted.

Because it is legally required to ask every time in some jurisdictions. If you mainly use Steam in a web browser, the Enhanced Steam browser extension will click through it for you.
Can you cite any such laws? Both Enhanced Steam and the userscript I mentioned help anonymize you too, preventing you from leaking personal information over the insecure web.

It's part of the ESRB regulations. More an industry regulation than proper law.

2.2 If the audio-visual content contains material from a Mature-rated or Adults Only-rated game (or one that is anticipated to receive either rating), display an ESRB-compliant age-gate prior to access or purchase.

I didn't break any rules for linking to circimvention/anonymization software did I?
Could you explain why Square Enix is applying these invasive age gates to pretty much all of their titles, especially "E10+" and "T" rated by ESRB?
I do not believe Valve is an EWC member but is just providing the API to the backend for their customers to apply.
The Wishlist can bypass this "age gate" if a title is already in it.

I'm not a fan of trillions of needless browser extensions. My paranoia also only extends so far.
Then just set year to 1900 and carry on.
The userscript I linked to only has a few lines of code, and it does nothing more than set the year to 1950 and submit the form. Extremely lightweight.

I don't need to use your script. If somebody has EnhancedSteam installed then the code in that script, which is as follows...

(function(form) {
form.ageYear.value = 1950;
form.submit();
}(document.querySelector('#agegate_box form')));

...is completely redundant.
The EnhancedSteam script actually randomizes the year.

It's another generalized legal system that gets in the way of and solves absolutely nothing. It's a joke at this point, just change the year to 1901.

If you read above, it is more of a contract.

Can't it be added to the EULA somewhere with our "concent"?

Thats what im doing. Afterall, if my exact birth date isnt important enough to be stored, then its not important enough to be provided. I just pick a year and ignore the rest.

Best to do it that way too as it will be stored in your browser for up to 2 years and transmitted unencrypted.

You know other platforms don't use this crap, only STEAM does... It reminds me of some forums that use this... or websites on the internet...

But most don't use it...

It has something to do with Refreshing, I dunno...

But the thing is, yes, it's a problem... However, think of it this way, ~_~

What happens if you accidentally put in the wrong date? & it locks you out...

It eventually should end up letting you reput in your correct date, at a later time, right?

But if we make STEAM only agknowlage this the first time, then a mistake like this,

can't be fixed, ~_~ & you would be locked out forever, or something...

Because of this, I probably would rather keep it this way...

To be honest, I am not even sure Age Restrictions even work on STEAM...

The only time an Age Restriction is required is when buying a Game with a Credit Card...

But you can get by that, simply by using a STEAM Gift Card, ~_~

Am I the only one who finds this kinda troublesome?

I mean think of it this way, there has been a war on Violent Video Games for some time now...

Which is where the Ratings came from, I dunno... But these ratings only apply to Physical copies of Games... They don't apply to digital Games...

All that is required by digital Games, is an Age restriction of being at least what 18?

But yet, there is nothing from stopping people from just using a fake Age, ~_~

All I know is... If someone actually does something about this...

I really don't want a repeat of another website I already have been using a while back...

I don't want to have to be forced to upload a copy of a picture of my ID or whatever...

Just to prove my right to own the Game...

If it came to that, I would not buy anymore Games, ~_~

So lets just leave this all alone right now, ~_~

I'm fine with re-putting in my Age everytime I visit a Games Page to buy the Game,

it beats the alternative, ~_~

Oh yes they do.

It's a *requirement*, as has been repeatedly stated, to display things that may contain mature subjects.

Heck even the one not-safe-for-work webcomic I read has had to change their "you must be over 18" page to display literally every time you go there. It used to never show after one time clicking.

It's a thing. Get used to it.

And why in the world would people put anything other than their actual birthdate? You have one, use it.

If you've decided you're "mature enough" but aren't 18.... you're not mature enough.
