[SOLVED] Tried to test a new code and it redeemed a second copy
Need to know if I can get a code remove from my account and have it able to be used again. The code was just redeem and since I just got the code for a friend to use and wanted to make sure it worked I didn't think it would redeem the game again for my account, I expected to get the you already own this product prompt that I normally get when I try to use codes that I already own.

It shouldn't have been able to be redeemed though since I already own a copy of the game. lol

why would you test a code? if you bought it from a legit site, it will work.
the code was not for the version of the game you have, (standard and GOTY are 2 different versions of the same game)

There is not a way to "check" the keys on Steam.

version 1.4 is not the same as version 1.4.1

and you should think about this really carefully. Why do you need to test a key to make sure it works? If it works, it gets redeemed to the account permanently. If you dont trust the reseller 100% to sell working keys, then find another reseller, there are plenty of them. A legit reseller gets their keys directly from the game developer/publisher. They do not buy their keys from a 3rd party, out the back of a van, nor do they get them from boxed version sold at clearance prices from a brick and mortar store.

well when you already own the game "checking" the code is normally just typing it in and waiting for the "product already owned" prompt to pop up

followed by the "This Steam account already owns the product(s) associated with this activation code. Click next to proceed to installation"

meh worked well until today live and learn I guess going to see if support can help out

Support can not remove keys used and make them useable again.

Issue a chargeback on the purchase from that site. That will remove the key for you to purchase again.

I do not ever suggest making a chargeback directly from Steam though. That would cause an account lock.

Just found this old post

Steam support did not fixed that users issue. He even states that.

Edit: I see you removed your post after finding out it was not what you thought it was.
