How to disconnect a Switch Pro Controller from Steam
I heard the news of Pro Controllers now working on Steam via Beta Participation and it worked quite well. The Steam games with controller support worked, and in addition, it basically turns your controller into a mouse with the triggers as click buttons and the joystick to move the cursor when not in Steam.

However, while trying to set up my controller in Dolphin Emulator with Steam closed, the controller still acted like a mouse and I was unable to configure the controls like it was an actual controller. I couldn't find any way to remove the controller from Steam to stop this from happening and allow me to register the inputs as usual.

Any ideas on what the fix is?

This gamepad works ONLY with Steam. Technically, it needs an inut mapper to work. If you want to use it with Dolphin, change the desktop configuration.
Or buy a proper PC gamepad if you want to use one with Dolphin without Steam.

If Steam isn't running then you can see how well it works or doesn't work with other applications.
I think it worked with direct input somewhat before steam added support, try it and see how it goes.

It should not act as a mouse at all if Steam is not running, try it with steam fully closed and not just the window closed.

Again? What did you do before? What changed? Is steam messing with your emulator or controllers? Exit steam then.

If you want or have to use steam for this then add the emulator to steam or change the binding in desktop to match the emulator, its not very obvious but its certainly possible and free.
