PS4 dualshock4 direct input issues/findings
First off Id like to point out how grateful i am that steam has implemented big picture mode and official support for dualshock4 controllers. It makes PC gaming the best of both worlds.

I am using 4x dualshock4s. And i have found an issue with ps4 support per game "forced on" with the following games:
-overcooked
-ultimate chicken horse
-stick fight the game

In native directinput mode some buttons and axis work but everything is a mess.

If i enable ps4 controller support just for these games (forced on) with global setting off. Its still a mess but now 1 controller is trying to control 2 players. i assume the game is somehow picking up direct input and now also xinput from the steam "forced on" setting.

My controllers work with these games with Steam's global PS4 configuration support enabled in big picture. But i dont like to use this global setting as it can cause lag issues/wireless range problems with other games (ie rocket league). Its a workaround but annoying to turn global setting on/off when switching certain games as all controllers must be power cycled.

I prefer to turn on ps4 controller support (forced on) per game. (Please note "forced off" per game doesnt work with dualshock4s over bluetooth). Werid that "forced on" per game and global setting are giving different results.

I know DS4 windows is a fix for a lot of users. But worried it will give me the lag/reduced wireless range that i get from steam's global setting. Range is an issue for me as I use bluetooth direct to PC and run long hdmi cable to my TV. Note Rocket league works perfectly in native ps4 direct input mode.

I have confirmed all these other games work perfectly with the "forced on" per game setting:
-badland
-brawlhalla
-sonic all-stars racing teansformed

These games work perfect with native ps4 direct input:
-broforce
-duck game
-sega mega drive classics
-rocket league

Update.

Seems the global PS4 config setting which causes lag/wireless issues in Rocket League is cause by Rumble Preference set to "on" (which is why i was only affected in games that support rumble). Even 4 controllers directly in front of my PC are unplayable. 1 controller is playable directly in front of PC but slightly laggy, at range it's unplayable.

So the rumble data must be too much for the bluetooth connection to handle. Using the DS4 in native mode doesn't allow the rumble feature. Disabling this feature with Steam's global PS4 config support appears to fix this issue.

Hopefully this save some others the troubleshooting i had to go through.

Although setting rubble preference to "no" does help massively, i still get rare glitches/lag with the steam global support "on". I must be at the maximum bluetooth range and this global steam mode setting must change the bluetooth signal slightly setting it over the edge.

Another annoying thing i have noticed, when i opt out of the global support setting and power cycle all my controllers and launch a new game. Now and then randomly 1 controller at a time (will eventually happen to all) will pop back into global support mode (shown by the colour preference). This stops the controller working as the game is set to use native. I then have to pause the game power cycle controller to get it going again.

I have yet to prove if this only happens when previously using the global support mode (ie same big picture session or without PC restart).

I am testing with only native mode on from fresh boot to see if it still happens. Will report back if it does.

Thx for the posts man, good to see that I am not the only one having problems with this. I've been having problems with steams global suport for DS4 too, it becomes laggy from time to time and x360ce seems to work much better. The problem is that x360ce is not working on DBZ fighterz for me right now (only god knows why) and I can't really play any fighting game on xbox controllers, so now I'm using the global suport with DS4 on the charge cable so I dont have to rely on blue tooth ( I also desabled the rumble thing but didn't test with it turne on) and it seems to be working just fine now. Maybe the global suport really is messing the bluetooth conection of the controller, it is just sad that pc gamers have to do all these researchs and tryouts just to make our games run as they should =/

Turning off rumble fixed it for me, thanks!
