Seems the global PS4 config setting which causes lag/wireless issues in Rocket League is cause by Rumble Preference set to "on" (which is why i was only affected in games that support rumble). Even 4 controllers directly in front of my PC are unplayable. 1 controller is playable directly in front of PC but slightly laggy, at range it's unplayable.
So the rumble data must be too much for the bluetooth connection to handle. Using the DS4 in native mode doesn't allow the rumble feature. Disabling this feature with Steam's global PS4 config support appears to fix this issue.
Hopefully this save some others the troubleshooting i had to go through.
Another annoying thing i have noticed, when i opt out of the global support setting and power cycle all my controllers and launch a new game. Now and then randomly 1 controller at a time (will eventually happen to all) will pop back into global support mode (shown by the colour preference). This stops the controller working as the game is set to use native. I then have to pause the game power cycle controller to get it going again.
I have yet to prove if this only happens when previously using the global support mode (ie same big picture session or without PC restart).
I am testing with only native mode on from fresh boot to see if it still happens. Will report back if it does.
