Right Stick of XBOX360 Wireless Controller behaves as mouse

Since the new update the controller's right stick only moves the mouse cursor. No changes in the settings in any way fixed that; I tried everything after the problem occured...
The other buttons work normally, but whenever the right stick only moves a bit, the mouse cursor moves as well; that makes games like witcher 3 unplayable because the camera moves very fast and uncontrollable whenever the right stick is touched

Is there anyone else who experiences this issue and might provide some help?

For some ♥♥♥♥♥♥ reason, this is the default state for Steam. It cannot be turned off without disabling Steam controller support. So if your controller is not supported by the game itself, then you are forced to treat your controller as a mouse and keyboard. If you're lucky, the game will support your controller without Steam's ridiculous hybrid setup.

Right control stick is mouse control, Start is treated as 'Enter' key, etc. It's garbage.

To fix this:

Steam > Settings > Controller > General Controller Setup

Uncheck everything in this menu.

tried that first, it's not fixing the problem
as I've said, the problem started this afternoon with the new steam update, in the morning it still worked fine...

Whatever the latest steam update did it seems to have totally screwed controller support.

My game pad suddenly became unusable, sticks wont work or remapped weirdly, d pad doesn't work, can no longer play half my games. Tried all forum fixes but no use.
