There is no support for using that to bypass the 2FA system.

Don't complain to Steam Support when Steam "Mobile" Authenticator isn't working as it suppose to be and in cases your Steam Account gets compromised even with Steam "Mobile" Authenticator on.

Using emulation tools is not supported by Steam.

People get their items stolen usimg malware all the time. This is real! And using a desktop authenticator means that malware can steal your stuff just so, without you being able to stop the transfer or reverse it. Are you really willing to take that risk?
Why not just use the real thing instead?

With a compromised device, it is possible.

Thats my point! Instead of using the DESKTOP authenticator (which is insecure), using the real thing is a way better idea.

This was 2 years ago. Imagine how sophisticated IOS malware is now.
