Activating key without automatically starting downloading
Is there a way to activate the key through the desktop Steam without having to cancel download of the game after every code? :spazdunno:

Thanks! :hu_la_la:

You can activate then on the browser rather than the client,
https://store.steampowered.com/account/registerkey

The game does not automatically download after activating a key. The Steam client still asks if you want to install the game. If you mash next, without watching what that does, that's your fault.

Yeah, but it used to be that it didn't even ask if I want to download the game or not. It load the extra window for extra time, which is annoying if you're trying to activate a 10-20 games bundle and don't want to receive unnecessary email messages from online-activation.

FTFY The game does not automatically download after activating a key. The Steam client still asks if you want to install the game. If you mash next without watching what that does that's your their fault for adding this new function to their app without warning their long-suffering users or adding an option to turn it off.

No it hasn't, it always ask if you want to install the game after you using a key.

The only thing that does automatically download is DLC's, if you have the game installed already.

Actually, they changed it back and forth. Seems the behavior should be configurable, as it's basically what someone at Steam prefers at the time he has a word in that.

Initially, it would ask whether to download the game. Then they changed it -- you activated a key, and the request never came up. Great thing, if you ask me. Then they changed it back, so you have to cancel the download again.
