My dad thinks that steam is a scam/virus
I've finally got a pc and I want to download games from steam to play with friends, I've asked my parents for letting me playing the pc and they said to buy a disc or to choose from a web site, of course steam is the only thing that I trust. But when I told my dad about it he said that it's a virus without taking a look on it, and its very hard to make him trust. So pls can someone help how to prove that steam is safe

Basically, use the virus called google, then the virus called Wikipedia. Let him read the entry there. When he is done and still thinks it is a virus, let him work through the references below that article.

You can't. And we can't either, since we don't know him

If he's not willing to do any research himself then he's not going to listen to what random people on the internet say.

Could always buy a game disk that requires Steam to install... might force his hand.

Show him the wikipedia page for steam, or just download it without telling him. Prove him wrong, make him realize he isn’t as good with tech as he (probably) thinks he is.

Maybe you can find another relative that knows what steam is all about to talk to him?

You already have a steam account, added friends, installed and played games. I think it's a bit late for that.

Well, do what any responsible kid would tell his dad:
Proof your claim.

That is because he wants you to focus on school and not games.

By claiming its a virus?

One way to get your kid to keep track of his priorities, sure.

Makes no sense and the OP already has a steam account with installed + played games.
