How to fix your steam video previews to watch in FULL screen (solved)
Hello everyone. I have read loads posts seeing users having a problem when they are viewing a steam video about a game ect but when trying to launch that window preview into full screen all you get is a black screen and sound. However i have found the answer that is a perminant fix no matter what monitor or screen rez and size your useing and that is to change a setting in the actual steam software itself. ( Hears how ) Launch your steam client as normal, Now click the STEAM top left corner of that opening window and navigate to SETTINGS and click it. Now click INTERFACE on the left there just under In-Home Streaming and you are now presented with this new window with some simple settings and boxes you can click. All you need to do is put a CHECK in Enable hardware video decoding. Now please make sure that within your descktop display settings screen size you will see where you can change your custom scaling % normly this would be set at Recommended but steam video in big picture will only work if you have this set at 100% or 125%. When you change this you might find text and icons on your descktop a bit small or hard to read or even maybe gone to big, therefor you will might need to change your resolution in your nvidea settings or AMD crimpson settings. I use a 4k Samsung UE40KU6400 which is a 40" screen UHD and perfect with low lag for gaming in 1920x1080 at 60hrz and find it runs perfect in every way. I can ofc run it in 4k at 60hrz np but I find I loose around 10fps in online games and in anycase the only diferance between 4k and full hd 1080 is colour. please note only do this if you are experiencing the problem of a black screen or vieo not going full screen correctly in steam. this problem exsists due to new monitors or TV's that have dpi scaling ect normly run from graphics card to tv/monitors using a HDMI cable or DP cable for high rezolutions ect. Hope this works for you :steamhappy:

This worked instantly for me as well (requires a steam restart)

Awesome! Fixed me too. Thnx!!
Wow! thank you bro, I was experiencing a partial window effect while trying to play videos for games from the store. I was able to get it to work with the scaling inside the display settings, apparently it doesn't like %150 for my setup. Thank you so much, it was really getting annoying using a different player (i.e. Google chrome search for the game trailer). Props to you glazer
