Can't stop/pause steam downloads.
Hey, this is really annoying me. I can't stop or pause any downloads due to the fact they are always labeled as 'In queue' if a download starts, it will use my internet and continue to download, however when I click manage downloads it simply says in queue. This is starting to be a problem.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

What happens when you press pause in the download manager?

There is no 'pause', it just says in queue.

If it's simply queued it's not downloading.

Hover over library on the top of the steam app, go to download.. does it show as downloading? If so press pause

In the library it's downloading with the percentage increasing and showing mbp/s. But when I go on downloads it shows as in queue.

if you see the "pause" button in downloads it will pause it.. if you don't see the pause button, its not downloading anything

and what if

You have all of your games un-queue'd and you have cloud sync disabled.. but youre still getting download traffic from steam in the library downloads section? Its not disk usage either.

Is it workshop downloads?

Try using Big Picture Mode to see what is downloading.

I don't know how to convey this. The game IS downloading, it fully completes and is openable after I download it. WHEN it is downloading, it says it is 'in queue' rather than downloading if I go on download manager and I cannot pause, where pause should be is 'In queue'.

then it isn't downloading, it is simply queued.. if it was downloading, it would show as downloading rather than just queued for download.

take a screen cap

This showed the workshop that was downloading! For some reason in the regular client it wasn't showing.

Thank you for this suggestion

Slight necro after Googling... You've already conveyed it well, that other person just has no clue what they're talking about. I have this exact same problem. I started a download for Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide and my computer started slowing down like crazy while browsing. Ok fine, I'll just pause the download and resume it later. Except in the Steam client it says "in queue" and there is no pause option. I open up Resource Monitor on my PC and I can see that Steam.exe is using 99% of my network. Ok, maybe it's downloading something else. I look at disk activity and there are almost 50 instances that start with C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\downloading\235540\bundle\... that are causing 100% disk usage. I Google Steam + 235540 and lo and behold that's the ID number for Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide on Steam. So yeah, the game is downloading despite the client listing it as in queue and there is no way to pause it using the regular interface. Luckily the Big Picture mode trick worked for me, so thanks to the user for posting that.

Even if it does show the button, it just remains in a state of using internet, but not actualy downloading.
