GTX 1050 Ti, low fps using low cpu
After playing cs go at around 150 fps, my cpu is only being used at 30% and at 3.56 GHz.

My processor is an AMD FX-6300 Six Core @ 3.5 GHz.

Anyone know why my cpu usage isn't being used higher? Is it because of my 3.5 GHz limit on my processor?

Ok I just figured I would get more like 200 FPS since a 1050 Ti is pretty good. I also tested team fortress 2 out today and I got around 100 FPS, dipping down to 60 in team fights

I believe the CPU does the calculations and if theres a lot of stuff going on then it would dip in fps. Your GHz has nothing to do with percentage. The percentage is just saying how much the processor is being used. CSGO does not use much of the processor sinces it is pretty old game. Just dont worry about it since your getting pretty decent frames and you will be fine. But if you dont have consistent frames (number of fps keeps changing) then it will cause screen tearing which if it bothers you just put on v-sync which puts a limit of how high of a fps you can have. Hope this helps and have a nice day

Sorry but this is a false statement. Csgo is a CPU intensive game. Not GPU. 150 fps depending on the map is not out of the realm of normalcy for a fx6300.

Most importantly it also depends on the core the games can use. While CSGO can only use one core = ~17% CPU usage. If you count then the CPU usage on top for the OS and other stuff your PC is doing then 30% sound pretty much normal. You CPu is running at full clock even turbo clock so it already runs at its maximum performance for that game.

It is not a wrong statement but also not a 100% correct statement. Yes CSGO is a CPU heavy game but still runs on toasters as it is not demanding.
Also CPU matter mroe at low resolution then high resolution. If you play at current standard 1080p or even 1440p the GPu becomes more important then the CPU.

This is well and normal for an AMD FX-6300 I believe. Your GPU has no problem with this game and I'm sure if you paired it with some 2nd gen Intel i5 or better you'd have a higher frame rate.

I'm pretty sure that while Source engine has made some multi-threaded performance improvements, it still runs better on CPUs with greater single-threaded performance and the game may not be using all of the 6 cores your CPU has, if it's only 30% usage then it may indeed be using 2 of the 6 cores available.

There are some tweaks you may try however:

- Enable multithreading options in the game settings (there might even be some console commands for more advanced options)
- Set performance settings to "Prefer maximum performance" in the Nvidia driver settings.
- Set priority to higher in Task Manager (though this usually never helps).
- Set the game to all lowest settings then raise them one by one until your performance dips below what you want.

:balloon:
