Steam In-Home Streaming does not work with Fortnite - Xbox Controller does not work
- I added fortnite as non steam game
- I configured my xbox one controller for the steam link
- If I start fortnite thr stream works but my xbox controller does not work. The game "thinks" that I still have a mouse connected.

Can someone help me?

Disable Steams input mapper first, it always causes trouble. Then, "unconfigure", that is reset the gamepad configuration in the Link, thats also complete nonsense.

Thx for your answer! Can you explain me it step by step?

How do I do it?

On the link, you go to the gamepad menu and with the gamepad selected, theres a prompt to reset the configuration. On the host side of things, dont start the stream, go to settings, the group is called "Controller" AFAIR and you can disable the "Configuration support" for XInout there.

Did not work :( - Now my controller is my mouse in the game!

Does the game support XInput at all?

I have the same experience, disabling xinput in steam still makes it into a mouse on the desktop. Confused me for sure, thought steam input got stuck somehow. (could still be the case)

What if you launch it through Steam? Or did you do that?
EDIT: Nope for me.

We might have the same odd bug, it's like there is some phantom steam input device that can't be disabled.
For example, I can still alt+tab with home/guide+start even though all steam input is disabled.

I have been planning to make a ticket about this for a while now but not sure if I should do it in the Steam Link section even though the problem still happens when not streaming or Steam Controller even though it only happens with other controllers than the Steam controller.

I don't know when I use my controller on the host it works fine, if i use my keyboard in the game th ui automatically switches to mouse/keyboard. So I think they use xinput!

If play other games like Dead By Daylight it works without any problems over the steam link. But these games are steam games and not non-steam-games like fortnite!

Yeah it's a bug. The game fortnite does not see any controller.
Steam Input Mapper ON or OFF. The game always is in mouse mode!

Can you launch a game (skip non steam games for now) using the controller, steam link and big picture try this thing for me? Want to see if you got another bug I got.

Leave the xbox stuff disabled and launch the game, press the guide/xbox button to open the overlay while streaming the game, go to "controller options" and then "rearrange controller order" and tell me what you see.
This is what I get: https://i.imgur.com/BXaIbGN.jpg (my only controller is player 2)

My Issue got fixed by using this software. More simple and it just works!

How exactly? That thing won't work with a steam link?

Did you check the thing with the controllers?

Can we bump this? I'm having the same issue trying to play Fortnite on my Steam Link, and IDK what that moonlight-stream thing is that OP is linking to but I'd like everything to be in the same Steam ecosystem if possible

Sounds like the current workaround is to use the desktop config and change it to fit the game: http://steamcommunity.com/app/353370/discussions/0/1693785669847035886/

I haven't tried fortnite but if Steam knows you are playing it and shows it to your friends then it should work even if the overlay doesn't work..
If you launch the game using Steam and steam thinks you have stopped using it then there are larger issues. Until then the workaround should be ok.

Tried moonlight now for more then two days. Don't use it the input lag is extreme only in 720p 30 fps its good. Steam Link is better!

This is not the issue I tried it already! Even if you configure the desktop config to behave like an Xbox Controller. No Xbox Controller is detected!

I submitted this in-game as a bug report, and after a week+ I got an email back saying "We'd like to follow up on this, are you still having this issue?" then I replied Yes, and they never got back. Still not working btw working great on every other game including Non-steam games.
