Best format for gaming?
Ok, so i just got my new seagate 2tb sshd. Im using it on my gaming laptop which has a 3.5ghz cpu and a gtx 1050ti as well as 8gb ram. Not that any of that matters for this question. My real question is, what storage format is better for gaming exFAT or NTFS. I know they both have their speed and technical differences so sum it up for me. Which best for gaming in the longrun?

Isn't exfat made for SD cards and usb sticks? It seems worse for stuff like this..

I would say NTFS is the main thing that most games assume you use, stick with that.

Thing is exfat is good for portable media but its lack of security fillters can make some differences as well as its massive size limit question is is it truely better or not

Security can't hurt?

But seriously, just go with ntfs..

Is this a external ssd or something? Is windows asking you about this?
NTFS should be the standard choice in that windows thing right? That says what you need to know really.

You are using windows right?

NTFS should be used for any Windows system drives

Well the lack of security can make the read/write speeds a little quicker
And yes im on windows 10
The only reason im asking is bc ive heard that servers tend to use exfat on hotswap and internal drives so i was thinking it wouldnt hurt to check around

It won't be noticable. Go for ntfs.

Also are you planning to hotswap? Then it should not be used for gaming then and you can reformat if needed.

So you have is a 5200 rpm hdd with like 32gb of ssd cache. It's really the same as an hdd. I know because I got the same one when I was a noob thinking it was just a really cheap ssd. Unscrupulous false advertising. Regardless, ntfs is best just because of security unless it's an external HDD drive that your planning on sharing with a mac user.
