Question about cancelling preorders
Someone asked if he could cancel a preorder after playing the beta for 2+ hours and this is what I told him
You absolutely can, rack up as many beta hours as you want. Jmac would be correct if this was an early access game, but EA and preorder betas have different policies.

-someone who has a cancelled a preorder before with 10+hrs on the beta

PS: If you try to refund after the full release they might count the beta hours, I don't know. I also don't know what the policy is for games that fully unlock a few days early for the preorder folks, so don't try your luck with those (I'm not even sure if thats a thing on steam but it was a Battlefield 1 deluxe edition preorder perk). Since this is a trial beta, you are 100% in the clear to cancel preorder before the game releases 1/26.

So just for future reference, what is the policy if:
A) I forget to cancel preorder before release date, have 2+ hours on the beta
B) The full game unlocks early for preorders. Have any games done this on steam?

A: As far as i know as soon as the game releases all your gaming hours from the BETA count for the refund policy. So if you played 10 hours in the BETA you are 8 hours over the refund limit on release day.
B: Honestly i cant think of game that did that. If a game releases then its released.
There is no "half release" just for certain users. Its either pre released with BETA access or fully released.
