Deleting downloads will automatically restart steam.
Test playing it.
Is this your video?
Please explain video linked in steam discussions?
You post a shared url to your video?
If it's your video!
I take it you downloaded it to youtube first?
Then open profile go to videos manage videos
the youtube list appears on the left with the video you want to upload to steam?
first
select the game it refers to from the drop down menu
then tick the video then link it
it says its linked.
Go back to to your profile videos it is now in there play it.
I've gone into
Steam/settings/web browser and deleted web browser cache
Steam/settings/downloads and cleared download cache
but i am still unable to view these videos?
This is not my file and I am just trying to watch videos, which are linked in to a discussion forum via Steam Overlay.
The thread in question is https://steamcommunity.com/app/795100/discussions/0/3211505894118526417/
I can view all of these just fine through my Internet browser.
Thanks again!
I cannot watch youtube videos that others have embedded into Forums on the Steam overlay.
I have cleared web and download cache, but this doesn't seem to have solved it. Although it did clear my lists of favourite games and other categories i'd set :(
Any advice is welcome!
Well I still don't like to have it enabled because on some rare occasions when playing a game and a video in steam overlay gpu clocks tend to get stuck to "3D low performance mode" and then I'm f.... in game because of which I have to close everything and restart display driver.
Why can't all of the videos be played in software mode only geez...
We can only hope it will be fixed when they'll upgrade the Chromium back end and network code for other resons... (by 'accident' in plain words)
It's an internal Steam client bug: if you copy the URL (press RMB...) and open it through your preferred web browser it will load overlay YT videos perfectly, always.
There is only one "workaround" possible: close the Steam window, reopen it and press Back button to go back to that page and retry. It usually works.
Client UI and Chromium back end implemented by Valve is garbage, but Valve just doesn't care in fixing technical bugs. This bug is there at least since 2016-2017. Probably broken HTTPS protocol or something like that...
That's Valve quality assurance.
What eventually worked for me was checking the "enable hardware video decoding" box in Steam > Settings > Interface. Just wanted to pass it on.. I was surprised when I could see video again!
It's not just you having this problem, Scumkiller. Everyone is. And for me it's not consistent, sometimes they play, sometimes they don't. The solution is Valve putting all of the HTML 5 and other video-playback-related support code in to their browser for the client.
This has been going on for several years. They have to know about it, I'd be surprised if they didn't because nobody ever reported it. Since they haven't fixed it in a few years now they probably aren't going to fix it.

Just download latest beta if you can't wait for the public fix.
