"There was an error setting your profile name."
I wanted to change my profile name to "C:\Users\CAT\Steam.exe" but it didn't work. Then I tried "Steamed Beans" but it won't let me. Instead I get that error referred in the title.
Seems like the word "Steam" is censored for whatever reason...
Anything else seems fine, except for this one in particular...
If it is the word "Steam", then why?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

EDIT: Added more context

I'm sure, you'll find another nice term.

Steam, Valve and other "Admin" impersonating names can not be used.

Ah, well that makes sense... But there's no way an impersonator would fool anyone with the word "Steamed"... They could single just the word "Steam" and allow others such as "Steamed" and "Steaming" to be used.

But yeah, I understand where they're coming from.
Thanks!

EDIT:
Basically they could just make it so if it detects the word "Steam" alone it would deny, but not together with any other word or symbol such as \ or SteamBoi.

Except things like SteamAdmin, SteamSupport, SteamSecurity, etc... would still get through.

Well, they could also enter SteamAdmin, SteamSupport, SteamSecurity also as forbidden names. There's only a few so it wouldn't take that much work into blocking them.

OR, to make things easy, they could make it so that anyone is able to use those names, however, whenever you send or recieve a friend request from/to a user with "Steam" in their name, the guy who recieved or sent the friend request gets a pop-up warning, letting them know about impersonators and to be carefull with people with such names on them.

Warnings do not work.

That pretty much applies to anything.
Like, warnings about safety hazards. Some people ignore them.
Atleast this way, Valve can not be held responsible for anyone who loses their account or items to an impersonator. Because at this point they ARE letting you know about these things.

Especially if they make it so that to close said pop-up warning, the user would have to tick a little box with a text stating that they agree Steam will not be responsible should they choose to ignore this warning and lose their stuff.

This could encourage people to be more careful.

People are dumb enough to think that with random symbols like stars in between the letters are legit valve employees
