steam not picking up microphone
recently, discord broke on my computer, so i started using the browser version. eventually my microphone wasnt picked up on discord anymore, so i started using steam voice chat instead. after trying to remote play with one of my friends that ended up crashing the game we were playing and forcing me to restart my computer, steam doesnt pick up my microphone anymore. i checked my windows settings and the microphone is working perfectly fine. is there any way to fix this?

In friends chat, there is a cogwheel top right, under Language you are able to set the proper output device (it should be set to DEFAULT).

This has been a common issue since the voice chat upgrade. Sometimes leaving steam and popping back on works. Other times, going into your windows sound settings under privacy; then disabling, and then turning back on browser access to your mic will get it to work.

Steam also is pretty disagreeable with if your mic isn't plugged in before logging on. Its 50/50 for our group of 7 if you can plug in after or before login. One of us has to do the above mentioned enable/disable in the privacy settings at least once a week.
