Had an "allow this download" brainfart, need minor help.

I downloaded Warhammer Gothic Armada 1. Started it up and got the first time install...yada yada. I autopiloted and clicked deny for the .NET install, can't figure out how/what I need to either manual install it or get Steam to prompt me again. I autopiloted further and started up the game, which worked fine until it eventually crashes in the army builder! Can't seem to find too much in the way of fixing things, so here I am. Am I blind, or just non-informed?

edit: wanted to add, this is the first game i've downloaded on the pc. Haven't attempted yet, but would downloading another game or reinstalling this one from my library fix the issue?

Go into game folder there be common folder where holds the drivers you needed to be install to play the game

Nope. Steam now saves them all in a central folder to remove duplicates.
Steamworks Common Redistributables is what you're looking for.

I don't seem to have a central folder ... Steam \ steamapps \ common \ Battlefleet Gothic Armada II \ Engine \ Extras \ Redist \ en-us ... GA2 is currently my only game installed, which may be the reason for that. But within en-us is "UE4PrereqSetup_x64.exe" and only has Uninstall / Cancel as options. This also seems to be the only legible, not a .dll, or seemingly what I want from the various .txt/manifest files.

You need install VC 2010 Redist, and VC 2015 Redist.

No that just to show you what you get when downloading the game on steam, you just head to where Khalan said on your system. if you have Steam install on C drive in the default place, this is exactly where it should be.

You want to install both x86, and x64, for both 2010, and 2015, if you have 2017 installed, then don't need to install 2015, as 2015 same as 2017 but 2017 is the updated version, again ensure to install both x86 and x64.

Also just to point something out, if you have this game installed on system for past year, then the files will be where your game folder is where it's installed.

This is what my directory looks like, with the two manifest files' details. The nonUFS .txt continues with other game assets. And on this pc, both Steam itself and the game were installed about less than a month ago

edit: incase it matters, my laptop is 64-bit. Steam just put itself in the x84 folder.

this will install all currently used runtimes, you simply download and run as admin, let it uninstall all older runtimes, then it will install its package.

afterwards, run windows update and choose any runtime updates, then restart your pc and check again.

.net framework 4.8 is the latest framework out atm, download and install it and restart your pc, check windows update for any .net framework updates and restart again.

anything DX related you should already have, unless ofc certain games use stuff like slimDX ect.. those will be installed by the game itself.

if you want to make sure your DX's are running properly, you can run SFC (system file scanner) in command prompt (run as admin) and it will repair any broken/missing or corrupt system files (which include DX).

make sure your OS is completely up to date, make sure all drivers are up to date (i mean all of them, also do not use windows update to update drivers).

your gpu driver should be clean installed periodically or every update, to avoid conflicts, ect...

keep your pc free of dust, clean and maintain temp files, use disk cleanup, optimize and be sure your performance is set to high in gpu settings and OS power settings, check for viruses and everything else mentioned at least weekly.

always practice safe browsing and downloading, if possible download stuff from a cheaper computer than your main computer, it helps avoid viruses/malware/ect... on your more expensive computer.

as an fyi, checking for viruses is much easier and safer when doing so with a portable antivirus (antivirus installed on a usb), most run in linux, it runs without the OS on the computer which makes it much better at finding viruses/ect..., its also safer than an installed virus, because once an installed antivirus is compromised then it can allow all viruses through without detection.

if possible run your computer equipment (as well as router, ect..) through a UPS (universal power supply), some budget ones are good for basic protection, but highend ones do even more, some actually clean power by converting from DC to AC then back to DC, because power coming from your outlet is almost always subject to noise (ie... dirty power), not only will your power be clean, not subject to fluctuations, brownouts or power outages but you can still enjoy having power for a bit during outages (depending on usage and battery size).

you can also use programs like advanced systemcare and driver booster to help keep your computer running like new and your drivers up to date (gpu driver not included, you always do that yourself).
