So basically, I’ve been trying to get back into trading, and I’m well aware that one of the most important things to make sure of is the activation of the Steam Mobile Authenticator.

And with that, I went out and got a new service plan. Then, I registered the number and all, etc etc.

I then went to the Steam Guard tab of the app, and when I inserted my number, it told me that it had sent an SMS containing the verification code. To my dismay, it didn’t..

Now, here’s the thing. When I went back later, my inbox was bombarded with messages containing verification codes. When I tried to insert them, the message stated on the title of this post appeared. I am locked out of testing whether or not these codes work, and I can’t get it no matter what I try.

Tl;dr:
Got locked out of Steam Mobile Auth, unable to receive SMS and unable to input. Got a message saying (refer to title of post).

First of all does you phone actually receive SMS? And receive them timely and from all people that send you SMS.

I ask because when I upgraded from my S7 to a Note 8 I had issues with SMS. I could receive some but not all. None from certain people and some from SMS auth codes but not from others. I remember I couldn't receive Steam or Google authenticator codes. After numerous calls to my network, a new sim then a new phone the issue persisted. Eventually after proving the phone and sim were fine including using a sim from another network my issue was pushed to the tech department for investigation. 3 days later it worked fine.

Yes, I can undoubtedly tell you that it does indeed receive SMS. I tested it out on WhatsApp a while ago.

What's App doesn't send SMS using phone network. It send instant messages over the internet.

Plus as I pointed out just because you can get SMS from one source consistently doesn't mean everything is working correctly.

It worked fine. So I went out of my way to Google it myself, and seeing from others’ experience, it seems that I have to wait for something around a week. Until then, I will keep looking for possible fixes.

Can you send sms to anyone? (with wifi and 3g/data disabled)

Yup. It seems that Steam Guard is just f*cking with me is all.

Can you see that it got delivered?
I would still verify that you can receive them also.

To be EXTRA sure ask someone to SMS you and copy the exact number you gave steam.

Oh and yes, it did get delivered. I sent 4 messages with some time between each message.
