Steam won't open (Windows 10 - 1903)

Hello.

When I try to lauch steam (after tirning on my computer or restart) i can't see the steam window. The process is in task manager but I have to kill it in order to open steam again.

Few things that i tried :
- Reinstall Steam
- Change steam location
- Reset the browser and download cache
- run start steam://flushconfig in cmd
- deleting all steam folder execpt steam.exe and steam apps
- try the beta version

Is this issue occuring with anyone else ? Any tips ?

yes the correct command was "start steam://flushconfig", I just ran it and restart but it doesn't solve my problem

do dxdiag or windows event viewer,,, google youtube video, it might thow a bone to chew on and i bet 1 of the many helper might ID it better why it crash.

dxdiag a app issue has crash log at end of file.

Windows event viewer says nothing when steam doesn't launch but the warning distribued COM 10016 when steam lauch succesfully ( I assume it's a normal behaviour beacause i had this error before my problem).

I watched so many topics and youtube videos but it's all the same and the solutions doesn't work.

do you have any games to save or is wipe of all steam content possible ?

you dont want to delete ?:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps

but delete all other folder and steam files in steam path, and redownload fresh install and try again

and you might want to CCleaner system before reinstall steam , that is
easy clean
custom clean ( keep login/pw, i think its okay to do that, so you dont have to reenter information )
registry ( then ask sure make backup )

they have change app in new release.
reason why you do this should actual said itself, just keep standard setting do not fiddle with option you dont know anything about. ( its a professonal tool and even i dont do things just because you can , you need prrof and idea why do more, said in other word you most know better before add more choises )

I have many games installed but on others hard drive so i tried to launch steam before add my customs folders and I have the same issue. I already tried to delete all steam folders exect my game but still the same problem. I will try with CCleaner.

Edit : i tried ccleaner easy clean then custom clean then resgistery then reboot (because it installed avast that i don't want) then install steam but i have the same issue

just rename old game lib to steam.old reason is as test so steam freash install know nothing from previous installed games ( this is a test get Original to work with no games ) no reason to put game lib up then you maybe still cant get steam to work.

yeah that next step antivirus blocking issue. ( firewall and other previous installed security if lefover files still effect system )

So tried to remane my steam folder ton steam.old and steam doesn't even launch the first time after intsallation, before the first log in. I will try to reboot. I tried and still have to kill the process !

try run steam in administrator rights. and if that dont work try turn off antivirus app as test.

and try see event viewer again or dxdiag also.

most people will agree with me, if you cant start that, then you are in trouble , i mean millions of active accounts.( well tested app )

Already tried to launch with admin rights and without windows defender. Just check the event viewer and nothing is shown adout steam. And i don't undersand the dxdiag tool but it says no problem with the drivers.

But the error appears with my fresh install of windows 10 1903, i hadn't any problem before so maybe it's related

sure you can try rollback if that is possible. i dont recall any 1903 issue , but that dont mean you can get a issue or something goes wrong with update. and you can do upgrade again and then no problem at all anymore it has happend before.

see installed MS update is all working there ?

I can't rollback because it's a new install i formated my system. Yes installed MS update is all working

I try a fresh install.

EDIT : it seems to work with a fresh install of windows, i will see when i will install all of my softwares

just get steam up and run asap, then win is installed before you add other apps, try max install 3 apps at time check steam do work. this is better this way then you install 10 or more app and end up maybe with same issue its harder to ID the more you do if you even can get same bug.

Update : I found the culpit, it was the update KB4505057. Once installed the problem occurs again and remove it wont fix it

and do mention reinstall OS and reproduce error KB4505057 ( Windows 10 - 1903)

so you are right in your case. but let steam figure it out, they might want more info.

besure you do have a update pc.
that means check pc brand for all updates and bios or if custom build then it brand mortherboard support place with driver and bios.

and check windows update again.

its just stupid if steam say found error and we cant help you before you have update pc at support places.

and then all that is done try even

and its seen before that newest optimized driver work faster , but the real support place only focus on stability driver and dont care if there is optimized driver is made.

try change browser to firefox if you are a MS 11/edge user is this a browser issuer maybe ?
dont forget reboot so system do see new browser as default ?
