Installing games on External Hard Drive (Issues).

Hello guys, i really don't know any other place to put this issue, but i hope i can find some help here, so the issue i have is with my Toshiba 2TB external hardrive, when i plug it to my laptop, i feel everything related to the external hardrive goes really slow, in this case, installing games.

The issue related to games is when i install a game into the drive, sometimes the game doesn't even install, the download blue bars don't show up and the green bar goes all the way to the ground, also no time shows up in "Time remaining" and "Actual speed" shows 0kb, sometimes Steam freezes and in most of the cases, it crashes, steam won't open, but the wierdest thing happens...

When i unplug the External Hard Drive, Steam boots up immediately, so maybe there's an issue with said Hard Drive, i tried formating the thing but the issue remains.

I wanted to make sure Steam was the one having the issue so i unpluged the Hard Drive and donwloaded a gme, but after installing Kenshi on my laptop, downloading and playing it for 1 hour without issues, i start to think the Hard drive is the issue here.

So do you guys know what's the issue here? or how to fix it?.
