Can't watch videos on Steam
Trying to watch a movie that I purchased on Steam, it's stuck at the loading screen that shows the movie's title and 3 vertical bars above the title. This has been happening regardless of the movie, even free ones.

And yes, I tried the "Clear Download Cache" option. Didn't work.

No dice.

Almost forgot to mention; I had no issues only a couple days ago. (give or take a few hours) Not getting any error messages either. It's just stuck at that initial load; so something tells me it's something on Valve's end. (but I can't find a way to make a support ticket to tell them that, so I posted here)

Same problem here. The 'additional components' thing doesn't work. The video player just won't load anything.

first see steam settings and read all about webbrowser.on that page.

so if steam use webbrowser inside steam, then be sure all is update at default webbrowser
and this could be part of the problem that many have at storepage video lag like crap and cache it also is worse then before. and i have notice you actual have to press play now. things dont start itself anymore and it missing a progress bar , and then start , and if you zoom full screen at video all stop, it has never been that bad before.

and i bet you have no problem see youtube video = Steam problem and they are clueless, hard words yes, but its the only way to wake steam tech staff up. ( dont use my words figure this out yourself.
i cant keep make steam ticket, just because i can see maybe a tiny bit who is the problem or think who it is. )

ps.
the minute you do click a external link you do get warning and it open your own browser , so be sure that work flawlessly in own default browser, because steam is using it. and its update to newest version.

gl with it.
i dont work for steam, just a gamer like you.

We're not talking about storepage videoplayer lag, it's specifically the HTML5 video streaming player for purchased/rented video products. It gets stuck at the loading icon in the middle of the window, no progress bar, no errors, no nothing. There's no way to do web browser stuff with it when opening from the Steam client, and the video itself can't be downloaded, it is stream only.

But hey if you say this wakes up Valve, right? HEY VALVE YOUR YOUTUBE AND NETFLIX KNOCKOFFS ARE BROKEN AGAIN. PLEASE FIX.

As to making a ticket, I can't even get that deep into the Contact Support options unless it's a Valve product, and the HTML5 player isn't something I can choose for that.

*bump*

Issue has resolved itself. If, like me, you're one of (relatively) few Steam users who uses the Steam Movie Player, knock yourselves out. :)
I'm bumping this because my videos no longer play and when I contacted Steam support, they sent me a form reply about Steam Broadcast not the browser video player.

They told me to make a community thread to try to reproduce the "bug" - the bug is simply that the content will not load. For anyone. On any browser. Other people are also having this issue right now.

I put a copy of this message in another thread. I'm not really expecting much help, Steam's support and feedback is awful.

Did you get it fixed?

There is no fix to watch them in the client since Valve discontinued the video player in the client for those videos.

This thread was created before the video player was removed.
