Uninstalled Steam, can't install it back because "steam is still running"
Hi guys,

So I've got a problem : I had troubles with Steam, which wouldn't launch, even though it has been installed for a long time on my computer, so I thought I'd uninstall and reinstall.

Problem is : I managed to uninstall, but now that I'm trying to install it again, the setup just won't start, and tells me I need to close Steam before.

I tried to go to the remaining "Steam" file in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam, and delete it completely, but it says I can't because the files are being used !

Thanks for your help

Any cases of Steam Client still running in your task manager, you could shut down?
If not, restarting your computer might be worth a try.

If nothing else helps, kill the files in safe mode.

I was about to try your last point, the safe mode, after a 4th normal restart, and I wanted to try one last time to set up Steam... and it worked !

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I don't really know what changed actually, but I'm quite happy that it works in the end
