If you have Windows 10 almost every game on PC works with Xbox One controllers. :ss13ok:

(Buy it at GameStop and get the cheap warranty, within a year with the receipt you can exchange it for a fresh new one.)

they can be

steam -> library -> right click on game -> steam controller config
map the buttons to keys/mouse or whatever you want the controller to do

If it supports controller in general, it supports the 360/One controllers all the same. If for some reason a game doesn't have controller support, you can customize that just like how was already stated above...

Make sure you get a micro-usb to usb data sync cable also. If you wish to use it wirelessly, then you need either the MS XboxOne usb wireless adapter, or pc needs to have bluetooth, which can all so be had via a cheap bt 4.x usb adapter

Not all are. Most newer ones are though. If they're not, you can turn on Xbox controller support for the game through Steam to force it on, then map the buttons to how you see fit with individual titles. I think all the ones you listed work should work fine, though.

All? No. Not all games do support gamepads. But those that do, will work fine with any XBox 360 or newer gamepad.

All those games you listed should work with an Xbox One controller, but all games? No. Not all. And even if they may allow you to use an Xbox or a controller, I should say, doesn't mean it'll work well at all. Some games will have incorrect bindings that need to be changed, and if you can't change it you have incorrect controls. And some games straight out don't even support controllers. Like CSGO, you can connect a controller but it ain't going to do anything, unless you use external software to actually allow it to function with CSGO.

Some games just play well with controllers also, like the 3 newest Tomb Raider games for example, or the Assassin's Creed series

But most shooter types you really want KB + Mouse for ease of multi key controls, combos as well as ease of aiming precision with mouse.

for csgo, you need to enable the controller, and set its mappings for config.360.cfg
open console
controller 1
exec config.360.cfg

There is no garuntee that a controller will work in a game and it has nothing to do with windows or steam. Soem games as Arma 3 as example simply dont support controllers no matter what.
However as XBox being from microsoft you have the highest compability with xbox controllers overall.
