Valve Index Preorder - When does Steam charge the credit card? Steam exclusive?

Hello everybody,

I'm considering to preorder the Valve Index so I was wondering when Steam is going to charge my credit card.
I've never preordered any steam hardware so it would be great if somebody could help me out.

Also I was wondering if the Index is going to be available on amazon or if it's going to be an exclusive.

Purchases are usually instant, even for pre orders, but it can vary depending on your card carrier

But for Hardware it may not go out until its ready for release/delivery

You get charged when steam confirms your order.

I have already been charged ( though it could just be a "hold" on the amount )
either way i have a $1000 less available in my account.

bank email says Purchase amount 999.00 USD so I don't think its a hold
