Steam blocks the screensaver and "turning off the display". How to fix it?
Recently, i noticed that turning off the monitor after a specified period of inactivity does not work, the monitor is on all the time. By a simple experiment, i found out that the reason in the Steam launcher. When it is running, even if it is minimized to the system tray near the clock, the screensaver and turning off the display, don't activated anymore. How to get out of Steam, everything starts working normally. I tried to check with the powercfg / requests command, everything is clean, i.e. DISPLAY: no. SYSTEM: no. AWAYMODE: no. I tried to manually add the steam.exe and steamwebhelper.exe processes with the / requestsoverride command, of course it did not help. This is for all users now this happens (maybe it's a bug of the latest versions) or not, is it just for me? And how can i solve this problem? OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64.

I am having this problem on Windows 10. How did you fix it?

Steam doesn't work well if at all with 'sleep mode'.

Recommendation: don't have steam on if you're going to be away from the computer that long.

If the reason is really in Steam, try to reset each controller in the big picture mode in the controller settings. I solved my problem that way.

Thanks for getting back. I've completely removed the drivers for the controllers that I did have plugged in (unplugged now) and clean reinstalled Steam, but still have the problem... I guess it must be something different for me :lunar2019scowlingpig:

If you don't start Steam (or exit from it), then the problem remains or not?

Yeah, if I exit Steam both the monitor and computer will go to sleep properly, so definitely something to do with Steam... I just can't figure out what!

Have you done everything exactly as I recommended you?:

1) Enter the "Big picture mode"
2) Click on the shortcut "Settings" (figure "gear")
3) Click "Controller Settings"
4) Click on one of the controllers in the list of "Detected Controllers"
5) In the window that opens, click "Clear and Exit"
6) Repeat steps 4 and 5 for each controller in the "Detected Controllers" list.

Hello,

I let open CS2 in my bar and the screen on desktop, but my screen doesn't turn off after 1 minute of idle (as i puted in my power&sleep settings).

If I close CS2 the screen turns off after 1 minute of idle no matter where I left the screen desktop/googlechrome etc., but with CS2 active the screen stays open all the time no matter what.

Can you please help me with some updated settings for my screen to turn off after 1 minute of idle with CS2 opened?

I tried this option, it worked on CSGO, but now on CS2 doesn't work anymore:

This is my solution.

1. Open Command Prompt (*right click, run as Administrator if you are not already the administrator)
2. Type
powercfg -requestsoverride PROCESS steamwebhelper.exe DISPLAY
3. Idle on the store page for a minute, and watch the screen go dark!

To undo this command, simply type the same line, but without "DISPLAY" at the end. This will revert the powercfg requests back to normal."

Even with these settings applied, the screen still doesn't turn off while CS2 is open, I need some updated settings that work with CS2.

Thanks

When did Counter-Strike 2 launch?! Of course, the display will not turn off while the game is running! Do you really want the screen to turn off when games are running, lol?! :lunar2019crylaughingpig:

Well, if you want the screen to turn off even while the game is running, then you need to write the cs2 process instead of steamwebhelper.exe (I don’t know what it’s called, because I don’t play cs, look in the task manager).
