Public, un-edited complaint or request
Is there a way to make a comment to Steam, or it's related developers to ask a direct question without fear of it being deleted, moved or moderated.

I want a clear and open way to ask a question without being censored.

The 'help' options are railroading me into specific areas that do not cover the issue.
The forums are full of people already saying the same thing, apparently on deaf ears.
There is no way to contact Steam directly with a serious enquiry.
Why not?

No. Steam devs don't respond on the forums or the support part. It makes sense, as they'd be swarmed by people.

So how can we hope to offer feedback and get information about something that we have a problem with?

There is a Suggestion forum. That is all you can do.
A suggestion forum where many people are finding their suggestions or complaints are being removed.
When a customer has a complaint, what are they supposed to do?

They're not removed, they're merged into the pinned thread where you should give your feedback. Only posts that get removed are spam or insulting/flaming/otherwise seriously against the rules.
I disagree. I have seen many posts removed entirely, some of which have been mine.
They cannot be merged into a relevant thread as the issues they are raising are not relevant to any existing thread.

To clarify, I am wholeheartedly for the singular location for discussion, suggestion or complaint of a singular topic. (an example of which would be the new Steam Library UI being contained to a relevant thread where it can be discussed and the situation diffused by the development team)
They will not delete or edit your post unless it breaks some major rules. Like swearing and bypassing the filters, giving out personal information of someone, spamming links and stuff like that. They will not edit a post unless its to remove an e-mail or personal info, and even then they are more then likely going to delete the post.

If its a complaint about another user or mod or Valve employee go to that persons profile page and report them on there.

If its a complaint about a specific game that it breaks rules/laws, go to the games page and report it from there.

If its a suggestion for a game, go to the games discussion area.

If its a suggestion or idea for the steam client or website, post it in this section. but first use the search feature to find if its been suggested before, read the threads and then preferably add to one of the bigger ones if you actually have something to add.

If its just a rant/feedback about the new UI, find one of the mega threads and post about it in there, seriously we don't need 70+ new posts all screaming about the same thing (that they hate it or have an idea how to make it better by going back to the old one) a night and another 100+ threads a through the day. Just post in the same thread its more effective and less crap for the rest of us to have to look for actual suggestions or ideas.

If you need help with something but you're not sure what it is, there is a help section to post in.

If you need help with hardware stuff, there is a hardware section to post in.

If you need help picking out a game to play, there is the off topic section to ask in.

There is no way to directly contact steam because if you haven't noticed when they do something people don't like they get lots of crap thrown at them.

There are also over 90+ million active accounts a month, over 1+ billion accounts in total. Only around 400ish people that work for Valve in total, most of which don't do steam support. Now imagine, if only 1% of 1% of those accounts tried to directly contact steam. They would have to be sorting through lots of rant stuff, and people who don't actually have any problems. Then of course you have all the trolls that would be spamming it with crap too.
what about the gaslighting? why don't they remove those posts and put them in a single thread? so the rest of us don't have to see that crap. i can start a megathread if you want so they can all go in.

Because they just pile in all the stuff into one thread to clean up the suggestions section. But there are only so many mods to keep up with stuff like this and they have lives too, and are not paid to do this.

Anything that breaks the rules, usually gets closed down. Stuff that don't, gets left a lone or in the case of the UI hate posts, get put into one mega thread.

Report any posts that violate the rules and they will be addressed
thanks for the replies, is gaslighting against the rules? looks like more of a prerequisite for some users :)

Not specifically. But I'm also not sure how you gaslight in a public forum. Too easy for the bad actor to get torn apart. And too hard for the bad actor to convince everyone else they're crazy... There's plenty of forum rules anyway, and mods have some ability to judge too. So not an issue methinks.

Also just claiming someone is gas-lighting doesn't necessarily make it so. Like if I called you a worry-wort and you had a fit and reported me for name calling. It might not be actionable.

according to google..Gaslighting is a form of psychological manipulation in which a person seeks to sow seeds of doubt in a targeted individual or in members of a targeted group, making them question their own memory, perception, and sanity.
off the top of my head the first reply of the 20% cpu is gaslighting but i would have to look at the reply again
We're getting a bit off topic. What can we do to get a fair answer to a question around here. Since the help section railroads you into specific areas and any things that contain even similar words despite being a different comment gets lumped together in megathreads.
1. If you're asking to contact support, look under support...

2. If you're going to start a discussion that already exist, and going, why not join the one that's going, instead of spamming the same discussion that already exist, and active.

3. If your goal to start flame war, or etc, then you know well why it's a problem, and why mods would react to it.

Now what exactly is this discussion you trying to make that you think is going to be a problem? If this is a UI rant, then clearly you already know why, and shouldn't play dumb about it.
