Another Frustrated User (whose feedback was deleted)
I am frustrated about a few things. First, like many others, I don’t like the Library UI changes. That frustration was enough that yesterday I made a post to these forums expressing my opinion. This was my first post in well over a decade of being a happy Steam user. I did not rant and rave like a lot of other frustrated users. Instead I used my decades of experience as both a gamer and as a professional developer to list out a few things about the new UI that were actually good, and a half dozen areas for improvement. It was a clear, concise piece of constructive feedback. A bit later yesterday, I went back, found my post through the Post History (to make sure I was in the right thread) and posted a simple work around I found on Reddit and had not seen on these forums ( using the “-no-browser +open steam://open/minigameslist” program argument).

I had provided feedback and found a work around, so all was good.

This evening, I had another thought about the new UI, and figured I would go edit my post with the addition. However, I could not find the post, and my Post History is now empty. My thoughts and feedback were apparently dismissed and deleted by the folks at Valve (or the moderators working on their behalf). Based on a few other things I've seen in the discussions list this evening, I am sure I am not the only one whose voice was silenced.

So instead of providing more constructive feedback on the horrendous changes to the Library, I have emptied my cart of the $100+ worth of games I was going to grab during the sale. I have emptied my Wish List. And I have decided that Valve no longer needs my support or my money. I will still play games I have purchased in the past, but I am looking for another platform for future purchases.

Thank You Valve (or the moderators working on their behalf) for saving me some money both in the short term, and more likely in the long term. Your handling of feedback shows how much you care about what your customers think, so I will tell you what I think with my wallet.

I just made a posted about 2 minutes ago that magically disappeared...
Here is your post, as explained above there seems to be an issue with post history so I recommend using comment history for now.

Also why is it okay for Mod's to debate and counterpoint everything and when our side debates and counterpoints we get told we are spamming? And warned?
Noone is debating and counterpointing everything, and the rules are stilll being applied as normal (even a bit more lenient to be honest). You are spamming an unrelated video, on unrelated threads.

Like I said, the Library UI changes are the first thing in over a decade of using Steam to get me to come post in the forums. I posted the two original "moved" posts in another thread, and the 3 here above this one. So as soon as I hit Post Comment we will be up to 6 total ever.
Ok, and you were able to find them with my new link?

PS I already made a new post above confirming your findings, just pointing that out in case you missed it.

And what part of the OP the title of that posts has anything to do with the title of that thread???

This is a perfect example of my feedback being hidden as the title of that post has nothing to do with users being upset with the change at all

Yes. That link worked and is bookmarked.

However, the issue remains : if you tell people that Post History has all their posts and it doesn't, there is an appearance of dishonesty due to a "technical glitch". I understand bugs and working with badly implemented software systems. A good chunk of my career has been spent cleaning up other people's messes. However, that understanding only partially helps with my loss of trust in this situation because of the appearance of impropriety.

Thanks for the links and the explanations.

No, it's not. If people are discussing the new features of an UI, you're derailing it by posting a video with issues you're having - there are other threads for that. Please try to stick to the topic at hand and don't spam.

No feedback is being hidden, it's simply being merged into one thread on the same topic. This way other issues or people with other problems can also be helped. If it was hidden it would be deleted, but that's simply not how things work around here (luckily, or I wouldn't be here either).

I agree, and thanks for helping us notice. It's not often there are technical glitches, and for us it's hard to spot because our view defaults to commenthistory for other users. So thanks to your persistance on the matter I was able to see there was actually an issue, and clear up some of the confusion. So thank you.

I've raised the issue internally as just that, that this is not the right time for this glitch (is it ever?) - and doesn't help with cries of censorship.

PS The comment history button can also be found on the Activity page, right side.

Its Not the same topic

An announcement thread for your Changes
Is NOT a NEGATIVE FEEDBACK thread
Those two things don't go hand in hand...

If you were merging everything into a post that said
Negative Feedback or Even Feedback regarding New Library changes

Then I would believe you were moving stuff around for the purpose of being Effiecient mods

But because the title of the thread has nothing to do with angry feedback you are effectively hidding everyone's anger and wrath and Ire in a thread with a title that has nothing to do with what they are posting!

Exactly, this glitch is apparently creating a lot of mistrust, not just from me but from a lot of others from what I am seeing.

Maybe you should do a pinned post explaining that when posts are merged, they may disappear from your history for a while (or forever) and to use the comment history link instead? And reiterate it is NOT the censorship that it appears to be.

Yes, I'm currently thinking of the best approach to the topic - and checking out how widespread it is and/or how easily fixable.

We're merging all topics that discuss the feedback in one centralized topic, to keep things construvtive, non repetitive and helpful to other users (and I suppose it also helps Valve read the feedback). We could name it 'the negative thread', or 'the positive thread' or whatever - doesn't really matter, the fact is the content - and that's the UI itself. You're free to post whatever feedback you like.

at least it explains that portion of it, but i recommend you do yourselves a favor and just leave it all be, let it be spammed out as this likely wont stop regardless. People like myself will likely just make another thread in this case as we dont personally want it merged at all to begin with.

then again if you gave us our old UI back this wouldn't be a issue to begin with anymore..

wow,

Okay if you are merging thats fine now hear me....

You need to rename that thread to Feedback regarding Library changes!
Understand?!?!?!?

If would fix alot of your problems!
Because right now it looks like you are hiding our feedback...

Be quick.
I'm sure you know that negative PR about censorship is very hard to overcome. The longer there is radio silence from moderators on the topic, the more people will think you all were forced to undelete posts due to enough claims of censorship and the technical glitch is a cover story.

Sounds fair. I hadn't named the thread, and it was available when well the library was available - so the thread title was correct at the moment.

I see your point about it changing when it was used as a central point, although I stand by my point that it doesn't really matter how something is changed - it's all about being able to post the feedback in a constructive manner, and keeping the forums useful afterall.

That said, I've changed the title. Let's hope people stop with the silly accusations of censoring now :)
