Steam Library Screen Gone Black, Can't See Library
In the 'Library' tab, the screen is completely black. The options are "Home" and "Collections" but all that shows is a black screen. IT's not a networking issue because the library shows in Big Picture Mode.

I've also tried:
  • Clearing Cache in Web Browser Settings
  • Restarting Steam
  • Restarting PC

Is there another cache for the library I can clear to fix this issue, or another possible solution?

EDIT: Every thing else works fine, including the Store, Activity Feed, and Community. The issue only occurs with Library.

I had the same issue. I've uninstalled everything : Steam, Visual C++ Redistributables x86 and x64. The steam folder was deleted by uninstaller. Then I've installed Steam and it works!

It actually fixed itself on its own when I opened Steam again today. Strange...but now it's all good.

The new Library's still a buggy mess. Tried to open up SoulCalibur VI recently and the Steam client crashed by me simply opening it.

Best advice i can give from here on out is to see if you can't spread your game library across multiple clients. In the event that Steam really doesn't want to work, you'll still have games to play when your Steam library is inaccessible.

Unfortunately for me, i think i'm gonna need to find a new recording software since PlayClaw is tied to my Steam account. (And i can't say i'm fond of getting YNAB again since You'll Need A Budget to afford the new You Need A Budget)

Ok so I seem to have found the cause of the issue. I'm on a Mac laptop and when I switch from Ethernet to Wifi I have an issue, but if I disable Wifi and just have ethernet connected it Steam works as normal.

Although everything else seems to be ok, it appears that the Library in new version of Steam can't properly detect a network change, at least on MacOS High Sierra.

EDIT: I can open the Library in offline mode with no issue.

same here. macbook pro / high sierra. offline mode works, otherwise it's all black.

Yup. Sounds like we're in the same boat.

I just had this problem even when I would close steam, However I fixed it by going to task menu and ending the process because even if you close steam it still runs in the background :cozybethesda:

It is July 2020 and I am still having this issue. The library tries to load, flashes for a millisecond, then goes black. Then after a few seconds it tries again. I can see games in family view, but not my full library.

If I go offline I can see my library but of course I can't install anything. So basically I can't play the games I bought. Yay.

If I remember correctly I think the issue for me was caused when switching between different networks i.e. switching between ethernet and wifi or between different wifi networks.

I haven't had the issue for such a long time.

I'm still dealing with the issue, I've done everything. Reinstalled, saved and reloaded steamapps. Library autofix. I'm just pissed off now.
