Try this way it worked for me.
Right click on Steam> Properties> Shortcut to Target add
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe" steam://open/minigameslist

What is this?! I have had small mode since HL1 (just made the window that size) and now its gone?

I don't understand why Steam would hide such a useful feature that it seems everyone actually uses. Seems like they are just trying to force everyone to the main page so they can collect more dividends. Come on Steam, as if your customer base is lacking or something.. (just my two satoshi)

I edited my shortcut by right clicking on the existing shortcut on the desktop then properties --> Shortcut. Under "Target" changed to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe" +open steam://open/minigameslist . Then click apply. It will launch in minigameslist mode when opening now. As well, you can double click it with steam opened in large mode and it will automagically switch it back to mini mode on the fly.

I understand the reasons behind this change (MONEY). I understand that you want to put the default visualisation in this big picture (full of ads) setting 'cause of your own reasons (MONEY).
But at least leave experienced user the chance to switch back to the minimalistic interface. If you turn the same as EPIC, then I might as well start using EPIC instead of STEAM.

The funniest thing would be if Epic implemented the concise interface which Steam has been using until now. The former company by doing so would accomplish more than by giving away loads of free games.

Besides changes in the UI, the only new practical mechanic/ feature Valve added in a Library game's page is Trading Cards collection... Money was the culprit and the priority.

It also gives me normal Steam screen if I need it, but when you go to the normal screen and want to have a small one again, you need to reload your "Steam" to use this small version
