Recover Save Game File?
Hi, all. This morning, I opened Wolfenstein II, but my 11 hour save game slot was gone. Instead, I could only begin a brand new game. I've spent a while looking for tips, but I just can't figure out how to restore my game.

My best bet seems to be using the cloud save viewer, but it has about 25 files in it, and most of them appear to have been modified today. I assume they are the files with no progress saved. There are a couple of files from one week and two weeks ago, but I don't know if they are enough to reflect my total progress, and I don't know how to actually download and use the files correctly. Can anyone help me with this?

I've also tried checking for a previous version of the remotecache in my userdata folder on my pc, but there is no previous version available.

If it matters, which I suspect it does, I just logged into my buddy's computer yesterday so I could show him Wolfenstein: New Order, and I wonder if that caused the cloud saves to be corrupted or wiped? Granted, we didn't download W2, but maybe something happened any way?

Any help is appreciated. I'd obviously love to not replay 11 hours of the game.

As a follow-up: if my save game is lost for good, is downloading a third-party save file a practical alternative solution?

Thanks so much.

Hey, thanks for your comment.

I have save data in my remote storage, yes, but I'm not sure how to go about actually using it. What you've linked to is what I called the "cloud save viewer" in my original post. Some files are (presumably unwanted) save files from today's wiped session, but there are a couple .bin files that are from a week or so ago. Do you know what I should do with them and whether these are enough to recover the old game progression?

As for your video, I ran the validation but it did not seem to help...

You will be fine downloading a third party save file just make sure it's safe.
Try... C:\Users\''Username''\Saved Games\MachineGames\Wolfenstein II The New Colossus

Yes, hopefully I can find a save file that is only 50% story completion as the game doesn't allow for replaying story missions...

I can navigate there and there are "SLOT0" save files (with many different filenames) but this was last saved today and presumably represents the 0% progress save slot. There are also a couple files like "migrated.bin? and "profile2.bin" that were last saved a week or so ago, but I do not know how this impacts the save slot or if it even contains the data about my progression...

Additionally, there is only SLOT0 -- no other Slots are there even though I custom saved once or twice to another slot...

Only one way to find out is download it, stick it where belong, and test.

Do I need to download all 25 files or do I need to be selective?

I'm trying to find a way to post my screenshots of the files here for clarification.
This may work. Here are my cloud saves in a screenshot:

Maybe, I don't own the game, so not sure which files would store your game save, but download any saves that doesn't say July 21st good luck.
Thanks for your help. I'm concerned that somehow I overwrote my save slot -- maybe by selecting New Game instead of Continue. That seems so unlikely, but it may have happened. If so, aside from lucking into someone else's save file, is there a way to force chapter progression without replaying everything?

Only way is asking someone to give you their save data, which you can ask in the game forum, or google it. Or just cheese it, put on god mode, speed run to where you were last at, then remove the god mode, again not much options.

I think you may be right. I think the god mode speed run is the most practical option, but it's genuinely depressing to think of having to spend so much time re-doing everything. Thanks for your help, at any rate.
