IGPU broken, but dedicated one still works. How do I switch it over?
Hello! I have a Dell Inspiron 15 7559. My Intel graphics card is broken (showing artifacts,, garbage display) so I disabled it, and everything works fine. I can run games outside of Steam, and task manager shows that my GPU (GTX 960M) is active. However, when I run a game from Steam, my GPU will show no activity at all, and I get really low frames since it is using the CPU 100%. Any fixes?

P.S. Since disabling the IGPU, I can no longer open the NVIDIA Control Panel. It says 'You are not currently using a display attached to an NVIDIA GPU.'

Go into the nVidia control panel and set the dedicated videocard as the preferred device.

I can't access the NVIDIA Control Panel. " NVIDIA DISPLAY SETTINGS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. 'You are not currently using a display attached to an NVIDIA GPU.'"

Because you disabled it. If you re-enable it....

You can not disable an integrated videochip in a laptop, because that would kill ANY output. In laptops the videosignal of the dedicated videochip is still sent through the Intel videochip, because the display is internally connected to it. But, using a simple passthrough should cause no issues as it requires no work of the chip itself.

My laptop is completely unusable with the igpu enabled, but if it's disabled, everything else seems to work fine. Sorry, what do you mean by your last sentence?
