I bought a COD 4 CD Key, it's a retail cd key. How do i activate it? Its not possible on steam, is there another way?

It's an old fashioned cd key

Then you can only add the game as a non-Steam game.

Install the game, you'll be prompted to insert the cd key. Sometimes during install, sometimes during first play (though the latter is more rare). Then add it as a non-Steam game.

Translation what you bought is a shady piracy activation code which has probably been sold to a thousand other users with the games makers getting nothing for it.

And people wonder why companies decided the old system wasn't good enough.

I thought it was a steam key, they didnt specify anywhere it wasnt. I kinda fooled my self tbh

Always read very carefully. If it's a Steam key, it has to be mentioned to be redeemable on Steam. The game is from 2007, that was a time that many games didn't go through Steam.

The link provided by Wolf Knight in post #7 has authorized sellers, use that as a starting point to be sure.
