What is wrong with Steam Music Player?
I go to Library. Terraria is highlighted. I hit Enter, which SHOULD start Terraria. Instead, Steam Music Player starts up and starts playing some sounds and music from Borderlands 2. I close the Music Player interface, but it keeps playing. I have to close Steam completely from the system tray and re-load it to stop the music.

There's a number of questions in the above. Why is SMP loading and playing BL2 sounds when I hit Enter to load Terraria? Why is there no easy access to stop/close SMP, forcing me to exit Steam entirely to stop it? Why is SMP a thing on my system when I obviously have no interest in it? How can I get it to not misbehave like this?

Go to View Music Player and exit it.

That lets me Pause the music (so I'm guessing it's still running in the background with the file loaded), but I'd like to be able to just disable SMP, and I'm still wondering WHY it even loads in the first place, when I'm just hitting Enter with Terraria highlighted to... y'know... play Terraria.
You should be able to right click the song and choose "clear queue" in the player.

That should stop anything playing.
There's an extremely easy way to stop the music, namely clicking the apropriate button in the player.
As for why it starts, there's some key combination to start it which I still don't know, but if another key on your system is stuck (software-wise, I suppose), well, SMP will listen to the key combination it listens to.

Still, stopping the music is as easy as stopping it in WMP.

Interesting note: the player does not have a "Stop" button. It has "Pause", but not "Stop". So... not quite, because Pause keeps the track loaded.

I'm going to try Teo's suggestion, but since I never used SMP in the first place, I have no idea why it even has those tracks loaded, so I don't know if it's going to do it again and just grab more random tracks, or the same ones from whatever folder it's accessing.

Who cares if it "keeps the track loaded"? As long as you don't press the key combination, nothing will happen and if you do, the player ill start playing anyway, no matter whether theres a "track loaded" or not.

I care. It's weird that you'd say that, because I would figure this thread makes it pretty clear I care; maybe you have reading comprehension issues or missed the original point. The whys are none of your business, it's a bug and I'm giving feedback that, even after five years, it's still an issue. I'm not even sure why you're here.

As I was saying, it doesn't matter. When you press the magical key combination, the player will start playing, no matter whether theres a track loaded or nor. Hence it doesn't matter.

Hm this seems to be ongoing.

It's not a magical key combination, it's a reproducible bug, explained in Jonny's link.

FWIW I only know that "clear queue" thing because I also don't want an obscure extra process paused or loaded in memory. I'm pretty happy-go-lucky with most things, but want my PC stuff under my control.
That's not an extra process.
Pretty much exactly that, Teo. Thanks. Boots, I know you're gonna keep lashing out, and I'mma let you finish, but nobody asked you and you're just not being helpful or useful in any way, you're just being spiteful while others are discussing an issue and how to address it.

Eh, fine. Semantics, unfortunately written, whatever.
Consider it examples of things I don't want happening, instead.

I have to admit, I feel provoked by your snarking in #8. I don't even argue that music simply starting ain't an issue (it is), the rest isn't. That insistence on aking a fly into an elephant of yours coupled with your personal attack towards me isn't the best breeding ground for a civilized discussion. Well, mostly the personal attack.

You'd have a better position for that if you'd been at all useful in any effective or relevant way before that point, but you're just here to be aggressive and then act hurt when you provoke any reaction at all. There's a game here on Steam that features Bennett Foddy that I'd highly recommend for you; in the meantime, I'm gonna see if I can get this thread closed; I've provided and confirmed my feedback, and we're accomplishing nothing else, since others have no more practical feedback and you're just begging for attention.
