Monitor turning off while gaming.
My monitor just randomly turns off while playing games. Its a 4k monitor and this just started happening with GTA today and it was fine yesterday when I got it. I know its not my GPU as it is a GTX 1080 and the VRam on the setting is just over 2500/8900. So, I have no idea what is happening. Any help is much appreciated.

Does the MONITOR stop working? Have you plugged it into another computer with a different configuration but try the same game? Or does the COMPUTER shut down, blue-screen, or crash to desktop?

Have you absolutely installed all the right drivers (not necessarily the newest, but the right ones) for that card, and researched the model of the monitor to make sure it works well with your system's hardware?

Are your computer and monitor both plugged into the same power circuit?

Try moving the monitor's physical plug into a different circuit. Honestly I had this problem a number of years ago and it turned out to be the stupidest thing: my actual house's power supply couldn't handle both things on the same circuit (because old).

How is your power supply in the computer itself, please go to the top of your steam library window and click HELP > SYSTEM INFORMATION and paste the ENTIRE list here, maybe that'll help narrow it down if it persists.

Hardware doesn't just 'shut down' unless there's an actual hardware problem. It's not due to software. Even if it's 'only happening then', it may be a power draw problem if anything in the computer but it isn't going to be something ram has anything to do with.

Lets ascertain if its the gpu turning off or the monitor.
When the gpu turns off so does your screen.
If the gpu is turning off you are experiencing hardware failure be it the PSU or the actual gpu has heat issues and possibly turning itself off.
Have a look at your direct X diagnostic reports.
Open the run type in dxdiag press enter.
See if there is any problems with display.

look in device manager, r/click This computer on your desktop>properties.>device manager.
At the top of the device manager click on View and select show hidden devices.
Look through your display devices is there any listed twice or name other.
Disable your onboard Intel so that your dedicated gpu is default.

My GPU stays on, I have tried DVI, Displayport, and multiple HDMI cables. I have already disabled my onboard intel graphics. I would then assume its an issue with the monitor itself and need to get is replaced.
