Wishlist tags dissapeared
I've been having this problem since summer sale and I thought it was going to be a temporary thing because of all the problems the sale had, but it has been a while since and I'm in the same situation.

So basically all the tags in my wishlist are gone.
I can see the tags in games in the Store and the Explore page, but in the wishlist are gone. I can search only by names, and with more than 2000 games in the wishlist is a "little bit" slow to search for a particular game.

I can't find anyone with the same problem nor here nor in social media, but just in case...

I don't have any tags either. I suppose they got removed.

I also thought of that in the first place, but the search bar of the wishlist is "search by name or tag", so...if they removed the tags on all wishlists I suppose they should also have removed the tag part (?)

Yes, they should.

I also thought it was temporary change due to high load during sales,
but there are still no tags and search by tag is impossible.
so uncomfortable :(

Were they removed on purpose or is this a bug? I can't say that wishlist's useless now, but searching through it by tags was a neat feature.

Just got an answer from steam support about wishlist tags:

Our team is currently working on releasing the Steam Library Beta that's coming on September 17th. I'm happy to forward your feedback about bringing this feature back.

If you'd also like to start a discussion about this with the community, please feel free to visit the Suggestions/Ideas section of the Steam Discussion forums.

So I guess we just should bring more attention that we want wishlist tags back. I liked them while they worked. =(

Hmm, the Steam Library Beta was just that, a Library interface change. Changed nothing on the wishlist page. Wonder why they'd reference it as if it had any purpose behind the wishlist lost tags.

Yep... I was waiting to see if anything changed with the betas but even if I like the new library, that's has nothing to do with wishlists. The search bar beta work 'kinda' like a wishlist if you tagged by genre, but it's not the same.

Bur why they bring library design changes, though? it has nothing to do with wishlist
or do they want to say that they are too busy to be distracted by something like disabled wishlist features?

Exactly, they're saying that their priorities currently are on the new Library update.

Oh, OK.
Thanks for clarifying this.

Did anyone receive any updates on this issue from Valve? I think someone probably doesn't even realize this is a problem on their development team, they still have "search by name or tag" highlighted in the search field as if it's supposed to work. This is probably a feature that a patch broke by accident and nobody noticed.

Steam load wishlist data from several requests in background
https://store.steampowered.com/wishlist/profiles/(profile_id)/wishlistdata/?p=0
Inside this call there is a JSON object which return all data

As you can see last "tags" is empty. Server-side issue. Or disabled for performance reasons.

I was pretty sure that they were disabled for for performance reasons,
but they were not returned later.

Can be, but given that whole information about game can be cached it doesn't matter if you return list above or list with tags.
Also I am pretty sure they can use our screenshot space as cache for wishlist page, so refreshing wishlist will open only several cached pages, decreasing server load even further, so tags are not much performance issue until it's something they update on server on every "tag update" per game.
