Wifi adapter missing when opening steam games
The problem only occurs when I open steam games and not other games such as Osu! and Epic games. I've been browsing the nets for hours and the moment i open a game from steam library my wifi adapter gone missing. I need to restart my laptop for the adapter to appear back. This only happen for steam games

Things I've tried:
1. Downloading all windows updates and drivers for networks
2. Lower the bandwith limits in game and in settings
3. Uninstall the adapter in device manager and scan for changes
4. Winsock reset

My laptop is Acer Aspire F15 with a qualcomm atheros QCA9377 wifi card
Ty in advance

Steam overwhelming cheap-o crap-o WLAN adaptors ain't news. You need a WLAN adaptor that's not bad.
Do you have any bad VPN software installed. Its likley that the tcp stack is corrupted

Afaik, i have no vpn installed in my laptop. Only opera have vpn and i have never used it. not even once. Should i uninstall it?
Go into bios and reset settings to default
yooo i have the exact same problem. my laptop is asus tuf fx506iu. my wifi is completly fine if im not playing steam games (such as dota and the forest). when i play those games, my wifi sometimes disconnected and cant connect again. if i troubleshoot it, it will reset my wireless adapter. sometimes it success and sometimes it doesnt. if it doesnt ssuccess, my wifi adapter will be missing and i need to restart (in some cases, i need to restart like 6 times) before it comes back again. i've tried so many things, including this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FC2WHF0bmCA and i even disabled overlay. IT HELPS BUT not for long. the problem happends again.
and if i tried to ask everyone about this online and search for it. no one understands it. they will only tell me to update driver or uncheck the "allow to turn off this to save power" at the driver power management

As I said previously, Steam overloading crappy WLAN adaptors ain't exactly news.
Start by checking for driver updates. If there's none, grab a USB WLAN adaptor. There's really small WLAN adaptors so you can let it in your laptop permanently.

Any fix available yet ???
Facing same issue in 2023 😞
The only fix for crappy hardware is replacing it.

Found working solution finally !!!!

Quick Solution , reset Windows from cloud

Long Solution , Make a boot-able drive from any other system where the WiFi is working fine and install the windows from that boot-able drive.

It is all about bad windows update/install/driver :steamhappy:
