All my games crash within 5 minutes of playing.........Please Help!
Just built my PC and pretty new to PC gaming so need some help. I have been playing Rust and have the graphics setting set on Good. (I've even tried super potato!) and the game just keep crashing. Tried Ring of Elysium and even apex legends on origin as well and same thing.

Crashing varies. Either straight away or within the first 10mins of gameplay.

Specs are:
MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC Motherboard
Ryzen 7 AMD CPU
Geforce RTX 2080
32gb DDR4 3200MHz Ram
Samsung 1TB SSD
650W Power Supply
Monitor (Samsung U28E590D)

Running Windows 10.

Tried lots of different thing including increasing the virtual memory etc but I don't really know what I'm doing so any advice would be amazing!

Cheers

Sounds like overheating. Check whether the heatsink is attached properly, fans are spinning and the thermal paste is applied correctly.

I'll check that out. Is there a temperature that it would usual cut out at?
When the game crashed the gpu temp was at 70 and the cpu was at 60. Does that sound right?
All fans are working

That pretty much rules out overheating. While not great, it's perfectly acceptable.
Maybe explain how the games actually crash. The game stops working? Everything freezes? The computer just turns off? Bluescreen? Do you hear any weird beeps before?
Do any other graphics intensive programs do this too? Like rendering / animation software or the like?

Have you made sure that your antivirus and firewall programs have whitelisted Steam and all its folders / files?

Does the issue happen when something specific occurs on screen - like explosions, fx heavy clouds or physics objects moving around? (( on one computer years ago, the system would completely crash and restart every time the game tried to render grenade explosions... thanks fallout 3 I needed a new computer anyway))

And you have made sure that your computer is using the graphics card and not the onboard chipset, yes?
Appreciate your help!

So the game crashes sometimes before I even fully load in or even when I'm just walking around. When I say crash it goes to the steam homepage or in some cases BSOD (I'll list some of them below). No beeping. Just freezes for 1 sec and then closes to the steam homepage.

Just tested rendering 4k footage in premiere and same thing crashes to the desktop and the occasional BSOD. The GPU wasn't under full load though. Seemed to be using more CPU. Not sure if that sounds right.

I have disable Norton's Firewall temporarily for an hour to see if it fixes the issues and no luck.

I believe the computer is using the graphics card. I have a CAM overlay on while I play and here are the stats right before it crashes (15sec into playing):

CPU: 42C 17% 2001MHz
GPU: 64C 98% 1815MHz
RAM: USED 13.9GB FREE 18.9GB
VRAM: 1USED 5.4GB FREE 2.6GB

Blue screens I have had so far:
DRIVER IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL What failed: nvlddmkm.sys (x2)
SYSTEM THREAD EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED What failed: nvlddmkm.sys
PAGE FAULT IN NON PAGED AREA What failed: dxgmms2.sys
PAGE FAULT IN NON PAGED AREA (x3)
APC INDEX MISMATCH
IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL (x2)

♥♥♥♥ loads right!!

Things I have done:
Re installed Windows 10
Checked Nivida Driver is upto date. Even tried older verisons.
Up Virtual memory
Tested memory using windows
Tested hardrive using windows

I take it back about Premiere Pro rendering.

The stats right before it crashes are:

CPU: (63C Temp) (41% Load) (3898MHz Clock Speed) (2513RPM Fan Speed)
GPU: (67C Temp) (99% Load) (1875MHz Clock Speed (seems to be maxed out)) (1566RPM Fan Speed)
RAM: (27% - 9.14gb Load)
Ok I'm 99% sure it's the GPU. There's a program called 'DDU' that uninstalls your graphics driver completely, run that and then reinstall the graphics driver.
It may sound silly to remove it first and not just reinstall but it's just how it is :)

Your BSODs (at least the three first ones with named files) are all graphicsrelated.
If the card is reasonably new and/or covered by a warrantee program bring it back to where you got it and get a new one. Ask that it not be refurbished, just in case.
Ok so I used the DDU program in safe mode and then reinstalled the driver from the nivida website. Loaded steam and started up rust. About 5 seconds and it crashes again to BSOD giving this error.

System_Service Exception
What failed: dxgkrnl.sys

Any Ideas?

Thanks for all your help so far team!

Are you using multiple graphic cards? If not, check nvidia settings so it's not set to SLI somehow.
You should also make sure the card is getting enough power, some cards draw power from two cables.
Make sure the graphics card is slotted into the top-most PCIe-slot (exceptions exist, consult your motherboards manual).
650 SHOULD be enough for that, but it isn't always just the watts, it's the ... amps? >_> It's been years since I've shopped for a power supply but maybe check the specs on it.

Still it shouldn't be underpowered, but that ... really just sounds like a pretty bad failure. I hope that youv'e already moved any important information off your hard drives, and into a safe usb or external, just in case.
Only one graphics card. Couldn't find any settings for SLI in Nivida Control Panel...

I removed the Graphics card and made sure it was all installed properly in PCIe Slot 1 as per manual. No luck :(

Power supplies is something I am terrible at. The brand is EVGA Supernova 650 G2.

Everything is backed up so no need to worry about that.
Any last ideas team? I am about to put this PC out on the street with a FREE sign haha

I have a IT guy coming on Saturday at the price of $145hr! hoping I can fix it by then
A 650W powersupply should be enough to cover the RTX. Nvidia recommends 600-650W and their recommendations usually are on the up side of things.

All your Blue Screens are related to nvidia and directx drivers. So it has to do with the graphics card.

I did find issues with Nvidia Surround and multiple monitors, but looking at your OP you only have 1 monitor, so that's not the issue either.

It certainly seems like drivers crashing. All the named files are Nvidia or DirectX related. Any chances you can test an older driver?
