Can't play Steam games on AMD Ryzen 3600x and Radeon 5700

Hi all,

I'm having some issues with my new hardware. I recently installed new cpu, gpu, solid state storage, mobo, and ram (so pretty much a new computer. Since hardware installation, I have installed windows 10, AMD Radeon drivers, and Steam, however I am unable to play any Steam games.

For test purposes, I installed Left 4 Dead 2 and found that the program runs in the background but I'm still unable to play it.

I have already installed all windows updates, made sure Radeon has up-to-date drivers, installed Ryzen Master software, and several other sanity checks, however I'm at my wits end.

Update: Origin games give me the same issue, so I suspect this is an AMD issue? Any suggestions or advice is welcome.

Do you have all BIOS updates and chipset drivers for your mainboard?

Is it possibly just minimized? If you alt-tab to the game's window will it bring it to the foreground?

I did try this however the game isn't minimized in the tray. They only way I know it was running was by using task manager and finding it in background processes.

Hey guys, sorry for the delay. No luck so far. I've reinstalled Win10, Steam, L4D2, and updated my Radeon drivers however no luck yet.

Try installing Steam first and installing the game from there site? It's always odd when Steam doesn't work. Sometimes an anti-virus or anti-malware program will interfere with Steam. My friend says zone alarm (a firewall program) 5crew5 with his Steam games. Rouge Killer wants to uninstall Steam on my machine. Post your machine hardware & some of your apps that use scans.

Most of new computers have problems probably because drivers are not ready, deal.

With regards to scanning apps, I don't have much. Just a standard install of Windows 10. I installed Firefox, Steam (then L4D2), Spotify, etc. There's also the AMD drivers and such.

well i just built a 3600 amd. i install steam and it tells me c:\windows\system32\detoured.dll is either not designed to run on windows or contains an error.Really???

What is your NEW system, then? Is your new install of the operating system correctly installed and updated? I mean... are you trying to install something on the wrong type of os?
