Steam Controller Issues
I have searched in all areas to try to find a resolution to this. I appreciate any assistance. I have the Nvidia Shield TV and the controller as well as the remote. I can use either with no issues on everything within the apps, however, when I launch Steam and try to log in ( I do have an account with no issues ) I can not enter my password for my account. When the virtual keyboard comes up I can only access the right side of the keyboard. Using the right joystick it is prevented from crossing the center "aisle" of the keyboard but will move anywhere on the right side. I have rebooted, reset, disconnected, reconnected, pulled plugs, did a nake war dance ( which my roommates were appalled by ) and anything else I thought would fix it. Under settings in Steam, controller settings has Recover Steam Controller Firmware ( grayed out ) and No Controllers Detected, also grayed out Back is my only option. I can use the joystick to navigate around the selections however. In the Nvidia "home screen" under Shield Accessories the controller and remote are both recognized and paired. Thank you for reading this and I look forward to your replies.

You'd get better help in the Steam Controller board:

Thank you. I will add it there.

UPDATE: I can not post there. It says my account is not allowed to post there.
Also I had previously searched there but I could not find anything that helped. Again thank you

If someone would copy and paste it over there for me, be a virtual translator so to speak, I would be grateful

Steam acts as the Steam Controller drivers. If you plug it into anything but a PC running steam or a Steam Link then it will only have limited mouse / keyboard capabilities instead of acting like a controller. If you're streaming you PC using Shield, then your controller will need to connect through your PC for proper input. If you're using the Steam Link app, then you'll need to first start the app and then connect your controller using the blue tooth update. https://store.steampowered.com/steamlink/about

Thank you. I will try the latter option. I am running it strictly on the Nvidia Shield box, it is the controller that came with the Shield.

No the steam link app wouldn't be used in this situation. The only things involved are the Nvidia Shield TV box, the Nvidia controller ( which works fine in every other app ) and the Steam app.
The Nvidia remote is also included but not involved in this. Added, in settings within the Steam app under base configuration ( I think that is the correct title ) the modes aren't changeable, BPM is present but I can not select it. Not certain if this is an option. Also if I click Controller Settings, the initial time is where it lists, No Controller detected and the firmware selection, however if I go back then try to access it again it simply refreshes the screen not allowing me into Controller Settings. Thank you

I am having the exact same problem. At my wits end. Ironically, up until a few days ago the virtual keyboard treated my Shield controller as a controller and I had no trouble logging into Steam. Now it seems to treat the controller like a mouse, all of a sudden, and then only on the right side of the keyboard. Somebody please help!

Had the same problem. If you install the NVIDIA SHEILD TV app from playstore on to your mobile you can log in that way.

I had the same issue with the shield controller and the "GeForce now" Steam Link app. However, when I use the "Gamestream" Steam Link app I am able to login with no problems. As long as your steam PC and shield are on the same network I'd use the GameStream option. Hope this helps.
