Remote Install does not download and install

Hi all,

I switched over to PCMR and Steam about 2 years ago from console gaming, since that time I have never actually managed to get remote install to work properly.

Everything else with steam seem to work perfectly, but if i purchase a game on store.steampowered.com & then click the "remote install" button the game appears in my library but the files don't actually start downloading. However, once back in front of the PC I launch the game and it is only then that it will actually start to download the game and install, meaning i have to wait hours. It doesn't matter how long I leave the game in the library, 2 hours or 2 weeks, the files will never start downloading until I launch the game direct on the machine.

There are no error messages, everything seems like remote install should work. I've tried searching the internet but i can't get the search terms correct for anyone else with the same issue and steam support say they have no idea.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a settings issue or an uncommon bug?

I just tried to completely reinstall Steam to see if it fixed the issue, but no dice :(

Any game, any game I have ever tried just appears in library and never downloads from remote install until i double click on it and it starts the download when I am physically back in front of the machine :(

Same here. Just bought two games and clicked the "remotely install" button on the final page and when I went to the Steam client a few minutes later... nothing, had to install in the normal fashion.
