Don't use that service. Garbage. Obviously if you can't figure out how to whitelist Steam and its games from it, it's not going to be of much use.

Overly protective third-party software / service at its best?

I haven't heard of this before, but i see that it offers a software for you to install and other paid services.

Don't rely on that at all, especially if you're capable enough to avoid malware and so on.

If it worked until today I can only assume the steam client is changed somehow, so webroot isn't recognising it anymore.
You should report your problem to the webroot company, so they can include steam in their whitelist.

I did a search for "steam" on their community, and found a few threads about similar problems from a few years ago.

They aren't interested in helping you. More than likely: because you haven't bought their extra packages or other services.

Again: bad software, and particularly of note, bad software that is not easily used by its actual user? If you cannot do this yourself, to that program, to white list Steam, and the people who you bought it from cannot, and the people who make the program cannot... that's far more problematic than you might want to think.

I had the same problem...still ongoing....I had to completely exit out of Webroot, not just disable it. I uninstalled it. Use Windows defender and Malwarebytes now.

A lot of third-party "security" software are trivial.

As long as you the user of a network / PC make the right decisions, you have no need to worry at all.

MWB is a great option, though, i recommend that you keep it.

^^ Agreed there. I don't always keep mwb on my rig, because I can't afford a paid version, but when I need to I just pick up another trial / free version for use. Always best to keep your own eye on what's going on, be careful of what you click and where you put info, and when you do make a mistake (I know it's happened to me) immediately run mwb.
