How do I sign into my Windows PC using the Steam Link?

I have my Steam Link set up in a separate room from my PC, and don't enjoy having to constantly walk to the PC just to sign in.

Not possible, with streaming over the PC it must be running.
The Link cant turn on your PC or sign in on its own.

Did you try signing in? Jokes aside, Steam need to be running 1st, in order to connect to your PC, if PC logs off, and can't connect, then how do you expect to login? You would need to go to PC, and reset it up.

If you have your PC on some kind of timer, or whatever you did to auto log off, or power down, then that something you need to look into, as Steam link does not have the option to power on your PC for you, nor does it have option to auto log you into on your PC, so you need to turn on PC, launch Steam in order for your Steam link to connect to your PC. If you want something to do auto login, and power on from remote, I suggest looking into getting some kind of device like Raspberry Pi, set it up to detect when you use remote call to it, and power on PC, and auto do things for you, or whatever how you want to do it.

In short what you're asking for is not possible I believe, so you need PC to be set up before using Steam link.

I have Wake-on-LAN enabled on my PC, which allows me to wake up the PC from the steam link. It's my fault for not mentioning this from the start.

The problem is that when I wake it up, I can't seem to access the login screen.

Could just remove password, unless you have password on it to prevent family from accessing it for some reason.

same EXACT issue im having where i need to press enter but i am signed in as a local account (Administrator) i think that's the problem but why is it the problem...? why cant i just remove the password!?

I really don't know why it's a problem, because what want happening is to not have any password, pin, or anything that need for start on PC using local account, it just go to desktop, and ready to go on it own, another is to not have sleep, or screensaver, as don't want it logging off, or such after period of time system been on.

All i can say is leave PC on, and Steam running, and that about it, and can do Steam link whenever as long leave PC on, with sleep disable.

Both of these methods assume that you are using a keyboard and mouse. Or have a ps4, xbox or steam controller conected to your steamlink. Use of a controller requires that the user knows how to access the steamlink virtual keyboard.

1. You need to enable sign in privelidges to steam link in windows. This can only be done on the pc you are trying to log into. It may also help if steam is set to run at startup.

2. Alternitively if this does not work for you the next best thing would be to allow steam link to wake the pc via lan. (Assuming youve got Wal to work up to this stage). Then using google remote desktop on your smart phone. (This is easy to set up and the app is dowloadable from google play. Dunno about apple products). This will allow you to access your sign in screen on your smart phone. Here you can enter you password and operate your pc as if you were sitting in front of it. Once the steamlink wake on lan command times out. Try it once more now that you have logged in. Steamlink will send another wake on lan command to your pc but this time it will wake the steam app. This is a bit of a funny work around but if your a couch potatoe like me it works!.

I don't think you can remove the password.
You have to have a password to be able to enable automatic login.

• start netplwiz (with windows-key+r, not the search)
  
• uncheck "needs password"

if the checkbox for "needs password" is missing
in the settings (not possible for everyone)

• Windows Settings / Account / Sign-In options: Set "Require Windows Hello sign-in" to off.

This option does not exist for everyone.
