Steam Update causing Blue Screen of Death (BSOD)
In the middle of working on my computer, I got a steam update notice and foolishly clicked to update. The update started and promptly triggered a blue screen of death (BSOD). The computer rebooted and I was able to start steam and trigger the update without further incident. Do not update if you have any open programs. This has never happened in previous many years of Stream use. I have a current updated Windows 10 system.

it can´t be something with the system (or could be but not hardware related)!! my system never has a BSOD and of course sometimes a crash caused by a game - but it´s a fact that steam update and afterwards steam START AFTER UPDATE is causing the BSOD ! if I reinstall the steam, there is no BSOD until next STEAM CLIENT UPDATE !!! my memory is ok (testet) my HDD´s are ok (tested) ! as here written this BSOD´s are only after Steam Client Update !!

I refuse steam updates when they pop up. Later when everything else is closed and all work saved, I open steam manually and it does the update okay without crashing. But if I accept the pop-up update notice, it crashes.

After some new updates in march/april of windows i started getting lots of BSOD's with anything multimedia like steam but also discord etc.
I did a fresh windows install, still crashes, updated all drivers i could find, still did not work.
Then i went back to what changed in windows in November 2019 update and patches later ...
all was related to moving processes around to the fastest core available, which can differ for recent processors.
Now here's the thing ... i already have system software from intel, called Intel Turbo Boost, that automatically get's installed with windows if you turn it on in BIOS.
So here we have 2 system processes moving processes and memory around. My money is on that those are conflicting, one moves the process while other is messing with the memory related to it etc. Well, was my only suspect at least, besides possible hardware issues, like heat, but my cpu/gpu never went above 50-60C.

I turned off ITBM and poof ... never had BSOD since, but was not too sure about that steam update that gave 100% BSOD since Nov 2019. Today was a steam update ... well, no more BSOD :D

"UPDATE NEWS - STEAM
Latest Update 2 June
[-] 2 June - Steam Client Update Released
A new Steam client has been released and will be automatically downloaded."

This may or may not apply to you, but if you have a CPU with ITBM and been getting a lot of BSOD's lately, turn it off, fresh reinstall and try again.

I was thinking time zones, yeah. Because the only ones were from the 1st, both beta and stable.
