An HDMI is usually connected into the VIDEO CARD output.

Google and youtube are your friends. Every computer's back side is different based on the hardware it has in it so without actually SEEING it, it's hard to tell you what sorts of port the machine you're using has.

there are different monitor ports:
VGA
HDMI
DisplayPort
DVI
S-Video
it depends on what your monitor supports as well as what your computer supports

^^ like I said, lol. Without knowing what they've got, the hdmi is the most common one these days so if they've got a reasonably new machine and monitor that's what it will be. But OP: do look into your specific computer and monitor. That's the only way to know.

vga isnt great as its an analog signal

hdmi is better

If you got a match, BINGO! ... Otherwise, you are gonna need an adapter.
