CD-key on an old account that I forgot
Hello I have this box of a game here that i purchased in a store many many years ago and attached to a steam account that i cant remember and I dont even know what mail I used with it. The problem is now of course that I cant install this game on my new steam account cause its locked on the old account. And I cant recover my old account cause I know nothing about it only that this game was attached to it (I wasnt a very active steam user back then).Anyone else had this problem. What can you do? I've been at it for hours but found no way to get in touch with steam , all it does it take me to those articles but gives me no option to submit a ticket or any request.
I would love to be able to play this game again without having to buy a new one...

Remember to add proof of ownership otherwise Steam Support won't be able to recover your Steam Account.

Steamsupport will not give you any info about the account connected to that key.

You have to remember or buy a new copy of the game.

Understood. But How do I actually contact the support ? It doesn't give me any option to do so. I've been through this article several times now but still couldn't come across an actual link to submit the request. Thanks

I wish to get in touch with them at the very least and give it a shot. Just cant find a link that would help me submit a request.

Don't waste your or the support-teams time, if all you have is the cdkey, then you will not get the account or any info about it. For all they know it could be a box you found in a trashbin or a thriftstore.

I get it , but I do have the games purchase receipt with the date and time of purchase as well. And don't mind me but what the... do you mean by don't waste support-teams time ? It's their only job. Honestly its a damn shame a company as big as this having such a terrible CS.

If you have no idea about accountname/email or password you will not get the account or any info at all.

If you have no basic account information (accountname, e-mail or phone number connected to the account), how do you expect them to recover your steam account?.

You can still contact Steam Support and they may ask for additional informations about the lost account but if you can't provide any of those informations, the chance of you getting your lost account back is slim.

Thank all you guys for your time and negativity, yall think you're the only "know it all"s. I contacted the steam support and I was wrong. People on here actually care and the team is incredible. I successfully got my account back as one of the memebers restored it for me and sent me the account name with a new password. I'm gonna advice every person having trouble to get in touch with the team directly as they're truly awsome. The community sometimes doesn't help at all.

Well, account related issues can only be solved with the Support. Not sure what help you expect the community to provide.

If you only had the key and receipt for the game and did not remember one sinle bit of info about "your" old account I find it very hard to believe they handed you the account, if a suppotteam member did, they are actually a securityrisk for Valve and the users on this platform.

I'm guessing the old account hasn't been used once since he finished the game, so it's been gathering dust all this time. Thus, a low security risk.

Not when there are strict rules that cause them big trouble if they hand an account and the personal data it contains to the wrong person.

And that is without considering the fact CD keys end up being passed around so easily that they alone are not adequate proof of anything.
