Games that are in the "Learning" phase...
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1504975795
And also games with "Profile Features Limited..."
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1640772820
I appreciate your answer. How long does this process normally take for Valve to fully "learn" about the game? Or is it something the developer is doing wrong? Just curious. I know this is all minor details
The part about limited profile use is, I believe, a move by Steam to stop games being made purely for achievement showcases like letter sets etc. I was looking down a curator list of games with letters for achievements and I am still trying to find one that Steam has not blocked.
https://store.steampowered.com/curator/29947283-Achievements-with-letters-by-Fly/
It is not that I really want to use those on my profile but I am making a separate guide and wanted to verify if it was worth linking that curator in.
Not only that but to keep marketable/tradable items behind the confidence metric to prevent crap game spam from devs that eventually get banned from Steam.
So, Dead Frontier 2 no longer says "Steam is learning about this game"; it now says "Profile features limited", which includes making Game Collector unavailable. Store page here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/744900/Dead_Frontier_2/
Daymare 1998 - a game that just came out today - has no issues, though... store page says everything is fine, and even before fully downloading it, I can put it on my Game Collector showcase. Store page here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/842100/Daymare_1998/
The sales/downloads/concurrent players doesn't make sense, considering Daymare has literally only been out a matter of hours, but for the sake of full disclosure, here are the Steam Charts...
Dead Frontier 2: https://steamcharts.com/app/744900
Daymare 1998 (I'm posting the demo because there is no data on the main game yet... will update when that information is available): https://steamcharts.com/app/1127780
So... what gives? I just want to put a game I own and have spent money and 200+ hours on in my game collector thing... is it that hard to ask, Mr. Steam? .-.
Evidence does indicate "screw this, old game was making me more money" has happened here and that would always keep a dev down whereas building a relationship with a game and the fans would make them trusted.
Reputable publisher makes no sense.
The Outbreak series is developed by Dead Drop Studios. They have 5 or so games. Every one of their games is fully profile functional... except their latest game, Outbreak: Epidemic, which was a free game. All of their other games are paid for. It was in the "learning phase" for forever, but finally switched to "profile features limited".
The issue is definitely something to do with free games.
I mean we are getting off topic, but the developer has been active on the game since July. Dead Frontier 2 is "ethical" free to play... so yes, there are in app purchases, but it follows the "Path of Exile" model, where paid purchases are only for cosmetics and utility upgrades, like stat resets or storage upgrades, nothing that effects the actual game play.
The game was canceled in November, but he has been updating it at least once per week since July. The game came out of the learning phase during the time the game has been actively updated
What on earth does that have to do with anything in this topic...? Like why bother responding if you have 0 input to add? Are you that bored?
The issue is clearly a dev. I do not know why you want me to repeat my point. You have alleged that the issue is free to play games - there certainly is not an issue there.
Is that clearer?
