Reconnect PS4 Controller to PC
Hey, I got a little issue with my PS4 controller. The first time I connect it to my laptop using bluetooth, everything went fine, it paired nicely and works well on Steam. However, after I reboot my laptop, I can't figure out a way to connect it again without removing the device and pair it again. Is there an easier way to achieve this? Preferably without installing any other software.

What do you mean by "reboot"? A simple restart, or something more detailed?

More like shut down. I shut down my laptop everyday. I guess restarting will have the same issue.

Is it turning on, but no input from it being detected? If so, it could be that you need to change the controller order in controller options.

When I press the PS logo + Share button, the controller just keeps blinking. After a while it will just turn off. And on my laptop side, adding new device doesn't detect the controller as it is already paired.

It might be that something's messed up with your computer's bluetooth functionality. If yours has antenna on the back that you removed, you might want to put them back on. You could also try deleting the device from your PCs bluetooth devices and try resyncing it. If that fails, you could rely on the USB cable as the connection to your PC.

I think my laptop's Bluetooth is fine. If I remove the device and try to resync it, it will always succeed. I'm just thinking whether I miss some steps, or whether I really need to install some other software for this.

Maybe your bluetooth drivers need an update.

I'll check this later when I get home.

So for you, after you first pair the controller with your pc, the next time you turn on your controller it will directly connect to your pc?

That's the case with my 8Bitdo SN30 Pro controller.

I see. I've checked the Bluetooth driver, I've already got the latest one.

Sorry for resurrecting this rather old thread. I think I found what I did wrong. After pairing, seems that I only need to press the PS button to connect. I've been wondering why the light blinks differently sometimes. Hope this helps whoever run into this problem in the future.

Holding down the PS button solves it for me. The controller light will stay on (not blinking), and it manages to connect to my laptop after a second or so.

Somehow I didn't find any source that mention this. Previously I just press it once, and the controller will keep blinking, which puts it in the set up state.
