Does Ignoring A Game Influence What Games You Are Shown On The Store?
I was just wondering if the action of ignoring a game affects future store searches for similar games(in terms of user tags)?

Recently I found out that Steam was filtering out Darksiders: Genesis, even though I was not excluding any of its user tags in my preferences setting.

The only user tags I have set to exclude are Match 3 games, and Football games.
Darksiders: Genesis contains none of these user tags, so I am at a loss for why Steam would exclude Darksiders: Genesis from my store searches.

So either this is a bug, or I guess the search algorithm is affected somehow by user tags in games you set to ignore. Seeing as I have ignored several shovelware games which probably have contained common user tags shared with Darksiders: Genesis.

Anyone who can help me, who is more knowledgeable?

What other type of preferences are you filtering out?

I know that wishlisted games effect what we see in the featured games on Steam Store. What you see differs from what I see based on our preferences ratings wishlisted ignored etc.
I've also noticed Steam adds a small header based on games I have games I viewed.
Putting it all together seems steam's algorithm makes it personalized. based on exactly those preference we set.

Match 3 games and Football games are the only tags I have set to filter out, like I said.

I permit pretty much anything, except for Match 3 games and Football games.

Its just very weird that Steam tried to filter out Darksiders: Genesis, cause I have plenty of games with the same tags. And have plenty of games wishlisted with the same tags.
Which makes me seriously wonder what other excellent games have gone under my radar, being wrongly "excluded based on your preferences" even though I never set that preference... :steamfacepalm:

What about "Product Types" and "Mature Content" here...

They are all ticked to show.

On the game's page...

There's a section labelled "Is this relevant to you?". This will tell you if it has a filtered tag or the like. What does it show there?

On the games store pages you ignored, choose the 2nd option in the ignore menu...

☐Ignore This (Default)
Hide from store, ignore notifications, and don't use this to generate other recommendations.

☑Played on Another Platform
Hide from store. Can be used to generate recommendations.

"This game doesn't match anything you have played" header when viewing other games in the Store. Right there is an example of Steam's algorithm at work.

Another example that may or may not be relevant is classifications.
There seems to be a worldwide collision with classifications.
Just yesterday saw this. Luckily I have already bought this and the DLC as I'm in Australia,

Is this game relevant to you?
Similar to games you've played: Shadow Warrior

Already on your wishlist

4 friends want this game:

That's all it said, didn't mention any filtered out tags.

I live in Norway, which as far as I know has not banned the sale of any video game. At least not that I can remember.
